Cheapest premium in town by a wide margin....that does explain the long line to get to the pump.

I also paid $3.29 for 91 yesterday. However, that was with a $0.30 per gallon discount due to grocery shopping. And at the standard price of $3.59, that would still be a solid $0.20-0.30 cheaper than almost all stations in the area that arent Costco or Arco.

I wonder if they switched the prices as a test to see if anyone notices. I feel most people who require 91 and skimp for the 89 (like me) just press the button assuming it’s less.

Either that or the top bar of the display in the 0.1 column is burnt out.

A few years back I pulled into a Chevron station with an empty tank. I started filling it up; the pump seemed very slow. At an indicated 1.7 gallons the pump handle clicked off, like the tank was full, which should have required about 11 gallons. I even got in the car and turned it on and the gas gauge read 100% full.

So I was thinking, should I just pay the indicated amount (about $5 for $35 worth of gas ) and drive off whistling a happy tune, or should I inform the guy at the gas station that his pump was screwed up. Either way I’d be being a dick to somebody ; if I drove off I’d be ripping off the gas station owner , and if I narced out the pump I’d be screwing the next lucky customer who pulled up to that pump. Oppos may be displeased that, inspired by Immanuel Kant, I decided to tell the gas station employee that his pump was giving away money. H e already knew, but he said “I’m just an employee, so I don’t care. ”

Im guessing people with cars that take regular are just buying the premium instead? Im pretty positive the vas majority of cars on the road do not take premium, unless you live in an affluent area.

My dad has a 100 gallon tool box fuel tank combo in his F250. I’d go over and fill it here since our gas is more expensive than yours, I think $ 3.87 or so now.

I paid 2.14 per gallon for e85 this weekend. Makes more power, runs cooler, and my fuel economy is mostly unchanged considering the higher traffic. Oh, the truck also adds timing and makes more power on it. Hooray for cheap 104 octane.

Tr affic is so bad that I have been seeing nearly identical fuel averages vs. E10. I get anywhere from 18 to 20 and I've been managing about 19 on e85 in bad traffic

What’s that, 50 cents a gallon? S o five bucks per 10 gallon refill, 7.50 for 15 gallons, 10 bucks for 20 gallons.

While you wait in line for multiple minutes for a chance at the pump before someone corrects the mistake.

Assuming you drive an Escalade that requires premium, and you need close to the whole tank, that’s 25 gallons for $12.50 of savings. If you wait 12 and half minutes to get to a pump you save $1 a minute.

If you have a Fiesta ST and you need 8 gallons you’ve saved $4, just enough to buy a Big Mac. Hopefully you didn’t wait longer than 5 minutes to get at the pump!

I mean I know Opponauts are hard up for money sometimes but there are better ways to save enough money to buy an Omelet at IHOP.

I only get 91 out here so it’s barely worth my time.

Honestly you probably spent more time typing up that comment than I actually waited for the pump. And I did save 5$ that I spent inside on some chips and a pop so it all worked out.

I type pretty fast. And the math is divide by 2, not exactly rocket surgery.

But I’m happy for you that you didn’t wait long at the pump.

I just would never get into a long time to save 5 dollars. That’s like Black Friday style to me, and I don’t go to those. People get nasty when free money is involved.

Oooooooohhhh, you think it was like an around the block line or something? Cause it was really more like every pump was full and one or two had a car behind it. I ran in and got snack and drink. But no, this was not one of those “I will idle my car for half an hour to save 10 cents on gas” lines.

Oh, well, that’s good. Get it while you can, I guess. Gas stations make way more money on in-store retail (snack and drink) so maybe they can afford to take the hit that day.
