Some guy honked at me today for waiting at a yield sign while cross-traffic was very obviously in the way, so I got an idea... instead of throwing up my hands or flipping him off, i just made up a nonsense gesture. When he passed me on the highway a few minutes later, we made eye contact and I just made an angry face while doing that blblblbl thing where you wiggle your finger across your lips. He was visibly uncomfortable, and I’m almost positive he’s spent the rest of the day asking people if they know what that means.

What I do is wave hi at them in a very excited way with a huge smile on my face, like I’m just super happy to see them.

Make them you’re crazier than them- way to avoid most road ragers.

Today I felt mildly bad because I closed on Corvette so quickly he felt the need to pull off on the shoulder to let me pass. Probably not necessary as the speed limit goes to 30 a short distance ahead so it’s not like I would have been held up much. No hand signals of any sort were exchanged though.

nah, when they pass you up, put a hockey mask on... preferably with some blood on it. ( red paint works as well... * shifty eyes)

That can work with aggressive dogs in certain situations, too. If you do some non-sense thing that they weren’t expecting, it can throw them off when they don’t know what to make of it.

I got honked at by a car behind me the other day as I waited in a left-turn lane. The big truck in front of us saw enough of a gap in oncoming traffic to make its turn, but instead of blindly following right behind it, I insisted on seeing a gap in oncoming traffic for myself.

moose antlers work pretty good too... We have an elementary school in our neighborhood and we’ve got some folks that get p!ssed off when you stop for children in crosswalks so I’ll get the car all catywampus in the lane and do moose antlers to distract them until the kids get across. Just amazes me how many folks just completely don’t care about any other humans beings other than themselves... eh.. well.. I guess that is the new normal...

I usually just give a big smile with a thumbs up.
It confuses most, enrages others, either way, it gets the point across.
