I wanted to comment on hokey Damascus claims, but this is awesome to watch.

unless it’s an old shotgun barrel, in which case you’d probably best not try to fire it.

They used to make damascused shotgun barrels for fancy high end shotguns. There is a myth that they are substantially less strong than conventional barrels. https://www.midwayusa.com/larrys-short-stories/damascus-barrels-rumors-and-facts/183
But did I mention they look gorgeous?

As with any really old gun, you should have a qualified gunsmith inspect it before use, but it appears damascus guns aren't significantly less strong than conventional barrels.

My uncle is an ABS Master Smith who apprenticed under Bill Moran, the father of modern Damascus steel. This is one of the blades he submitted to be judged by t he ABS council when he was applying to become a Master Smith.
This past winter I started going to work with him in the forge to learn about smithing. I haven’t done any damascus yet, but its something Id like to try.

I’m getting Damascus Steel in my wedding band! Example below (no inscription on mine, her ring is rose gold, so the middle band ties it together)

That is gorgeous, and I love the rose gold stripe. That is a really thoughtful detail.

That knife is a work of art. I find the handle as fascinating as the blade.

Yeah- we were shopping and they had one in stock that looked just like that and i instantly knew that was the one. The company (lashbrook) also makes all Damascus steel, but i’ve broken out to metals in the past so the jeweler recommended zirconium (as it is apparently very hypoallergenic).
