Not my own pic, but I had this for a first car at 16 years old in 2005 :
It came with a full tank of gas and I bought it for 75$ at a time when gas was 4$ a gallon. As I put it, I bought a tank of gas and got a high roof conversion van for free. THe cooling was borked but 250$ in parts got it done.
My mom sold it behind my back before I accidentally started a family while in high school.......or so she was afraid of. I don’t know what part of “reclusive nerd who DJ’d on the internet and played competitive video games until 2am” she thought was going to get me laid but.....here we are.

Depends on definition of “first car.” The first car registered in my name was a 1998 Ford Ranger. It was purchased in ‘07 with the intent of turning it into a desert race truck and, for that reason, I drove it a grand total of about 3/4 of a mile in the time I owned it. Sold it as an incomplete project a few years later.
First road car that was considered “mine” was a hand-me-down Dodge Caravan that my mom had bought when I was 14. When she was gifted a second Caravan from her brother it was handed down to me, though it remained in her name for insurance purposes. I drove it for a few years before tearing the door off on a fence post. Literally the only photo I can find of it is this one where it’s in the background. Not gonna lie, I’m a little disappointed in myself for this. I never loved it (it was a base model 99 Caravan), but it was a good utility vehicle and it went through a lot under my ownership. It deserved at least one good photo.
The first road car to be officially titled, registered, and insured as mine came after a second race car titled under my name (which I still have) and a second car that was “mine” but not registered to me, and it is one of the three cars I still currently own, my ‘08 Outback XT. Purchased it in late 2014 with 134k on the odo, it now has 207k on it and has left tire impressions in 31 states. Now that I have the BRZ as my “practical economical daily,” and with the Outback motor getting up there in miles, I’m planning on making some questionable decisions with it next year, to the tune of 325+ at the wheels.

I don’t have any genuine pics of my first, a 1989 Ch evy Suburban (R1500). But every time I come across a pic of one that looks like it, I save the image . It looked very much like this:
Onyx Black/Quicksilver, w red pinstriping. Grey cloth interior, bucket seats up front, barn doors in the back.

AKA the B210 in the US, and Datsun Sunny in other areas. Sure didn’t have to worry about speeding tickets.

‘Beastie’ - my 2002 Subaru Impreza 2.5TS wagon that I owned from Dec. 2008 until around April, 2013. :)
I had to sell it due to subframe rust...wasn’t financially feasible to repair for me at the time
, sadly... :(
I still miss it a lot!

1997 Lexus LS400, this car taught me everything I know about not driving like a jackass, troubleshooting problems, maintenance, turning wrenches, and detailing. 220k miles now with 50k of them under my lead foot, runs as good as ever. Needs some suspension bushings but its still smooth and has never stranded me. It smells like home lol here’s some pics and some snownuts

I can’t, since it was way before we all had $100 cameras in our pockets. best I can do is show you something like it. My first car was a 1987 Plymouth Duster I bought for $150 in 1993 . looked like this:
y’know, because some of us have to settle for what we can afford, even if it’s a piece of junk.

God. Like my base model 08 Outback, but improved in every single way. That blue looks amazing without the cheap silver body cladding.

First car I regularly drove (virtually identical to this, had it before the advent of mass market digital photography, and my family wasn’t sentimental about cars) :

Not mine, but same truck. A 1986 GMC S-15 named “Junior”. It looked just like this but with a set of 1970 Chevelle Ralleye wheels on it. It had been totaled once before I got it, my dad bought it from the insurance compan y for like $250 and he and his buddy put it back together with used parts. As he rebuilt it he put a set of polyurethane suspension bushings in it, and KYB shocks. It handled like a gokart, but it’s High Output 2.8L V6 made a thundering 115 HP, which kind of let it down. Still, I could kick the tail out at the landfill, so it was fun enough. When I actually started driving it, my dad went to the junkyard and got a pair of bucket seats and a tall center console from a Blazer and installed them. Ostensibly it was because my mom was worried my head would go through the rear window were I ever in an accident. But looking back on it I think it had more to do with me and my girlfriend on the vinyl bench seat.
I miss that ol’ truck. Juniors motto was “0-60 in... sometimes!”

My 2005 Honda Civic Sport EP2. The same chassis and suspension as the Si, but with a 1.6 liter engine and a 5-speed manual. Was totalled by someone who ignored a stop sign and rammed into the side. Still kind of miss it.
