All it needs is bedliner, because the tech package and offroading stuff makes it my top truck at the moment. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Part of me considering the “pay off the Fiesta and trade it in for one of these” route.

What’s wrong with the Lariat? I see Lariats cheaper than XLT’s. You get a lot more with the Lariat than the XLT, even with packages.

Usually the Lariats are a few thousand more, being a higher trim. I’m not made of money, and there’s nothing more in the Lariat that appeals to me that makes it worth more than an XLT.

I went on “true car” months ago to see what rangers were going for. Apparently True Car sucks now and just like filling out a form for an “instant free insurance quote” Of course I used our “house number” which only goes to voicemail. Anyway I have been getting calls from 4 local ford dealers ever since!!!
I had the exact opposite experience buying a VW. It was hard to find someone to sell me a car!

When the only two vehicles you’ve regularly driven are a vehicle with no power locks and a vehicle with proximity key, you like the proximity key features . If Ford offered keyless access on the XLT, I’d be interested. I like locking my car with my elbow if I have to.
Side note: A new Ranger Lariat in blue or orange is a vehicle I’m seriously considering purchasing within the next two years. This list is also very big.

I feel that. But part of me is going “sell Fiesta, buy truck and motorcycle as a solution”, because that actually sounds pretty reasonable.

Nice color but it would be my second choice.

The newer Rangers get good mileage. EPA ratings are similar to my RAV4. Honestly, the Ranger might be a great all-around vehicle. Unless you want to ride, you don’t need the motorcycle.

Is your first choice Saber or whatever that colour is?

I would like to ride.

I got emails for a while after I bought my Fiesta, asking if I wanted to buy a new car from the same dealer. I don’t think dealers understand how selling cars work.

Yes it is.

A friend’s (quite wealthy) father picked one of these up recently. I forget the trim level, but he is very happy with it.

I’m interested in taking one for a test drive, or just check one out at the dealer.

It looks like a nice practical package. Finally some trucks that aren’t ancient and aren’t enormous.

That’s my plan, although it’s looking more like “buy motorcycle, sell Miata, buy truck” in that order.
My business partner sold his ST shortly after buying a bike and bought a new manual Tacoma in blue. I’m told (frequently) that t he truck/bike combo is the bees knees

I figure I should have at least one fully responsible vehicle at a time, which is why I should deal with everything before I buy the bike.

$43k is too close to a closeout 2019 F-150 with more power, more room, same or better fuel economy and the ability to put a bike in the back with the tailgate up.
![]() 08/09/2019 at 01:16 |

That is also an issue and a consideration. But I sometimes drive an F-150 for work, and I just find it to be too big.

I drove a couple of different Rangers in the 90s and there were among the worst vehicles I’ve ever driven. Maybe they've gotten better; they could hardly be worse. Robust and dependable, yes, but miserable drivers.

Drove one at work, once. No winter tires, 4WD “worked”. It wasn’t the best, but it also wasn’t the worst.

I rented a GMC Canyon very recently. Have you driven one of those?
I was greatly impressed with it. Power, handling, smoothness, precise steering, very acceptable stock radio. Fabulous driver seat.

I sat in one. It was pretty nice, I wouldn’t say no to one.

Coming from a Fiesta anything is going to feel huge. A nd I don’t think the Ranger is going to be that much easier to park than the F-150, it’s still 74 inches wide . The biggest argument, though, is price. Y ou know there aren’t going to be m any discounts on Rangers this year while the aging F-150 has to deal with a very popular new Ram 1500. I wouldn’t be suprised to find $10k off sticker without any haggling.

I found a 2018 F-150 that was $20k off sticker. Diesel, fully loaded, “only” $53k. I wanted it pretty bad, not gonna lie. But you’re right about the price. I’d be curious about what my Ford discount would get me, though.

That must have been a loaded, higher trim level truck but the disco unt on it is hard to turn down. It’s $10k more than the Ranger but you get a V6 diesel and a lot more equipment.

The price of rangers is absurdly high around me. They finally got a blue “regular” cab one at the dealer by me. I decided to stop and look at it, mainly because it also didn’t have the chrome grill. I looked at the sticker and it was almost 40k USD. I laughed and walked back to my car. I could buy so much fun sports car for that price. Not worth it in my book.
![]() 08/09/2019 at 13:15 |

Sure, but it's all what you're looking for in a vehicle. A sports car as a lone vehicle out here is idiotic.

I live in the heart of ‘murica’ of western NY. I totally get what you are saying. I’m also a bit of a hypocrite . I have my CX5 to go with the Autozam.
