So, I did a thing. I put my money where my wagon-loving mouth is, and actually bought a Regal TourX. 2019, Essence, all options. No, it isn’t brown. No it isn’t a manual, no, it isn’t a diesel. But it’s a friggin’ wagon.
That is all.

ok but is the interior brown?

I wish Canada got these.
But we do get this and you guys don’t. I am pretty sure auto execs just roll the dice.

The Tourx is awesome, and I’d totally get one if I could afford a brand new car! A wagon with big funroof is awesome as fukc! Jus
t too bad it doesn’t have a third seat. Still good tho

make this wagon-owner a mod
Did you get a good deal?

Looks sleek

I looked at one when looking for replacements for the FieSTa, I really wanted to want it, I wanted to support AWD Wagonland, but it’s just too damn big... I then tried to like a Golf Alltrack, but it’s just too VW... the seating position was impossible for Mrs. Boost Addict to find a comfortable driving position, and despite being powerful on paper the high gearing sucked all the fun out of it and the tire noise was completely unconscionable for a modern car... hence we ended up with a Hyundai Kona....

but it’s just too VW
I felt this in my bones

Yeah, pretty decent, though I probably could have done better had I played the walk-out-and-come-back-another-day game. About $7k off MSRP, though incentives are pretty decent on ‘em.
Edit: I should also state that I was very picky in that if I was buying a new car, I wanted all the options. Many of them around were not well equipped, so I was not quite as willing to walk away, knowing that I might not easily find this combo.

Official name is “shale” for the interior color. Light beige... so... sorta brown?

Nice! These look great. I don't even care about the lower plastic cladding.

Excellent!!

The Alltrack was also a strong contender for me, though the deals weren’t quite as good. I had a B5 Audi A4 once upon a time (2.8 Quattro, 5MT) , and while I did love it, I don’t think the Alltrack would live up to that standard.
And I, too, have a Mrs. to consider, so the softer/quiet TourX is pretty appealing.
Plus, heated steering wheel (New England...)

I really want to understand why our Holden version of these is not selling...even with the V6 engine and the all modern conveniences specification that you guys don’t get.
So good on you...

Yeah, I’d prefer without, but there’s not much I can do. I’ve seen some forum pics of “de-cladded” ones, but the portions that attach to the bumper covers leave clip notches exposed, which also looks bad. Some folks went so far as to put a Regal Sportback bumpers on. I figure with the ‘smoked pearl’ grey, the cladding is less noticeable than on the white or red.

Good for you mate, enjoy the hell out of it.

I dig it. While I do have offpsring, we also have a Honda Odyssey for the times we really want the 3rd row.

A great car and how I would spec it. Congrats!

Thanks! The US Regal GS offers the V6 in Sportback trim, but the TourX wagon is 2.0T only.
Everyone just wants crossovers... except the few die-hard wagon lovers.

Congrats! I’ve actually seen TWO on the road in the last two days! One white, and a dark maroon one today that looked really good.

close enough! how do you like driving it?
![]() 08/06/2019 at 21:36 |

I’m enjoying it so far - I’m under 500 miles on the odo, so I’m still getting used to everything.
While it has some sporty pretenses, you do notice the size of it, and I wouldn’t call it agile. My only other criticism is that like many GM cars, the power steering is a bit overboosted (light) and the on-center steering feel is a bit vague, so if I’m tracking straight it feels like I lose connection a bit.
But I still love that I’m not perched high up on an overly stiffened crossover.

I really like these, makes me miss my old Buick longroof, but lack of 3rd row kills the utility now that the younguns are around.
The only thing that drives me nuts is the name - be proud, call it an Estate
. That’s the proper Buick name for a wagon.

Yes, wagons forever, I looked at them but I found a deal on a TSX sport wagon and I liked it.

I prefer the 2.0t for its tuneability. A lot of aftermarket or there. Is this with the dct or did they switch to the auto finally?
![]() 08/06/2019 at 22:02 |

The TourX has the 8sp auto, made by Aisin. There was talk of the GM/Ford 9AT but so far not on the AWD Regals.

Niiice. I wanted one of those for quite a while, but never did find a good enough deal to make it attractive. Used price always seemed high around me. Our other 2 cars are in the Honda family - ‘11 Odyssey and ‘00 S2000.

They should have removed the cladding, added the fake wood and called it the Roadmaster.
![]() 08/06/2019 at 22:24 |

It wasn’t really cheap but it was low miles and looks new, so I went to get it right away.

Nice! Welcome to the wagon mafia...

I’ve read the 9 is kinda weak and a lot of people didn't like the dct on the earlier models, so good on you!
![]() 08/06/2019 at 23:06 |

Congratulations! I love the color. I just bought one today too . I got exactly the options I wanted: moonroof, navigation, and remote start.

The Australian version of your car (Commodore Tourer) is exclusively the 3.6l V6 with the 9 speed auto . High spec only so it’s all leather cow interior...and AU$48,500 drive away. Which is probably where the primary problem is...

Does Canada get any of them? liftback/hatchback, estate or crossover estate?
![]() 08/07/2019 at 03:15 |

We call wagons, ‘estates’ here in the U.K. but your Buick TourX is our Vauxhall Insignia Country Tourer.
estate- sports tourer,
lifted estate- country tourer.

Good on you! It's a solid all round car but personally I'd want a GS version. I think now there are 4 regal tourXs on Oppo.

Nope :(

Buick used the Estate designation for wagons here up until ‘96. Though the Roadmaster Estate was definitely a sports tourer thanks to its Corvette derived motor on the higher trims. There was a separate Sport Wagon trim on earlier wagons - this was the highest trim level slotting in above the Estates, and in later iterations available with a 455ci (7.5L) 4 barrel big block engine.
If you wanted a lifted estate you just bought a Suburban.

Pretty sure GM doesn’t have a DCT other than the new Corvette’s.
The 9 speed works pretty well in my GS and most reviews I’ve seen praise it for its driveability.
![]() 08/07/2019 at 10:55 |

Refreshed cars have been seen at the Nurburgring. Only reason for that would be new powertrain testing and I’m sure GM would prefer to use their in-house 9 speed instead of having to source the Aisin 8 speed from Japan.
There’s also a chance they are running the new 2.0T and even possibly the 2.7T.

I have no idea what I was on about. I could’ve sworn they had a dual clutch transmission, but maybe I was conflating the awd system with transmission. Who knows?

That's curious. Why did America get two of the three while Canada didn't get it at all!?

Kinda, but I’d rather drive US GM’s stuff and UK Ford’s stuff
