The  roof rack is now substantially easier to access, and short people will find it easier to enter and exit.

Only when they’re misbehaving.

I’ve seen tube steps save a truck from a low bollard more than a few times. Worthy investment.

Well, I’m not interested in really technical off-roading or rock crawling , but I do enough skiing and hiking and  off-road camping that a step to get to the roof easily is necessary and full running boards are not desirable . Kind of a happy medium, hopefully.

Nah I hear ya.  I still have the factory sidesteps on the GX and I realize all the time how nice it is to have that access.

I packed up the 5th gen for a road trip shortly after I bought it and took a surprisingly long time to figure out why putting stuff in the roof rack and tying it down  was such a pain in the ass...oh right, my 4th gen has running boards. I started researching my options as soon as I got to my destination, ha.
