Fuel tank sprung a leak when my friend put some gas in it. APparently it’s a hole on the bottom. I’ve got some high-strength epoxy, but there are no aftermarket tanks so all I can do is hope it isn’t bad. I’m driving out tomorrow to continue brake work and assess the gas tank.
In motorcycle news, the TDM owner is out at tail of the dragon in his vintage beetle for the next week and a half. At the same time, my local BMW dealership has come out and placed a great condition F800S for about 4 grand. I love the color. I am tempted.
Overall, it’s been a busy few weeks and I feel like I’m being swept along by life instead of making my own way anymore. Nothing too major, just a hard speed bump to hit after a couple months of business but feeling in control. Been riding the bikes a lot lately so I guess I feel more at home on bikes than cars right now.
No need for advice or sympathy but feel free to share stories or let me know if the F800 is a good bike for commuting and day trips. I’m in love with the color and I do enjoy the look overall of the bike.

fuel tank leak
hmmmm...aint nothing a strip of aluminum foil and a roll of duct tape wont fix (unless its in the engine bay..... duct tape and heat dont do so well)
anyhoo... i got no fun stories to tell about bimmer bikes... coz i never had one
my last one was a bandit 600.... fantastic bike... i killed it... im sorry bandit
pretty sure i used up all my luck for this lifetime too
(hit a pothole in a turn near my home going too fast bounced me clean off the road... bandit hit every tree next to the road i sailed clean through and only broke my collarbone on the landing.... i knew that fucking pothole was there too...just not paying attention... familiarity is a killer)

I'd check that the epoxy is gas resistant because that shit melts everything

I used to have an F800R
it wasnt a BAD bike...decent torque, intresting noise, reallly good on gas. But you need the BM scan tool (GS-911) to reset service lights, and its like a $500 tool. and parts are EYE wateringly expensive. I dropped mine and needed a new shift level. $200+ tax from BMW. I ended up with a SW-motec for 150+tax. still WAY too much, but better then BMW.
I sold ours after 50K km. Had a starter go out on us in that time. other then that, regular maintenance.

I recently fixed a hole in my trunk with a literal bathtub drain stopper. Was going to epoxy it but it doesn’t leak and I didn’t want to make such a hack solution permanent so....I just left it. It’s been almost a month now
