I had to look it up. Charging standards. CCS is the standard favored by most American and European manufacturers (though Tesla of course prefers their proprietary Supercharger standard ), While CHAdeMO is favored by the Japanese. The EU requires all DC chargers installed from 2018 on to support CCS, which is why Tesla would have them in Spain (though it doesn’t forbid having multiple charge ports on chargers to support other standards).

It is a little different. Betamax was a better format for the most part. I think CCS is better than Chadamo, a nd I own a Nissan Leaf with a Chadamo port.

Since it is a EU mandated standard, regardless how terrible CCS is (not that Chademo is great either), that is what will happen in Europe.
But due to China’s new GPT connector supposedly going to be compatible with Chademo... it isn’t out yet.

Yes and no? CCS Combo 1 is favored by US while CCS Combo 2 is favored by Europe. Despite being called CCS, you can’t use a European car in US or US car in Europe because they use completely different connectors. (Yes, CCS is a big mess that we will probably regret in the long run )
Tesla switching to CCS Combo 2 in europe isn’t really that surprising cause Tesla was already using a CCS compatible connector there. They were simply using V2 while the new one was V3.
That said Chademo still has some hope. China’s new GPT connector is said to be compatible with Chademo.

CCS isn’t better than Chademo, they both have their advantages and disadvantages. Overall, neither is that great...
