What the fuck happened to the Cadillac Bob Lutz got us excited about. They barely made V sport models and called it a day.
Like how Chev threw SS badges on whatever the fuck they wanted back in the 90s and 00s

These were definitely supposed to be V-Sports.

The accountants won. This pisses me off SO MUCH.

I would LOVE to get a CT5 as my next car.
Not gonna happen with this bullshit

I wanted to do the same, as I currently drive a 2nd gen CTS (with the DI 3.6). So now, I think I’ll be looking at trucks. Maybe a Raptor, those look neat.

I think a lot of people are overreacting here. Cadillac said themselves that this is “only the beginning” for the future of the V line. They’re probably going to bring out a new ultra V version with the same performance we expect from the line, similar to the AMG Black Series or the Audi RS series.

On the CT4-V, I’m surprised they’re using the 2.7L I4 van/truck motor and it only makes like an extra 10HP over that application.
And it’s lame that the CT5-V is down ~50HP even though it appears to be the same engine that was used in the CT6.

...and you expected anything less from GM?
Pretty sad news...

I have a 6 year old Mercedes. TTV8 and 400+ horsepower. 0-60 in 4.5.
Is it an AMG? No it is fucking not.
Those engines should be 1 step up from the base 2.0. Not a “V”

I hope you’re right but I’m not optimistic.

I found the info about these being BS here:
https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/2020-cadillac-ct4-v-ct5-v-debut/
With some luck, the story is wrong. But if it’s right, then yeah, the new V models are bullshit.

We got about 10 years of solid performance cars our of them. That's something

They didn’t sell enough of the previous models, and they won’t sell enough of the new ones either . The people that want a traditional Caddy sedan are dying off every day because they’re all boomers in their 70s at this point . The younger generation that’s s’posed to be replacing them is just buying Teslas instead.
I’m honestly shocked that Caddy hasn’t gone SUV-only.
Today’s announcement was useless. Harsh, but realistic.

Y’all are mad, but when these are sub-$20,000 with less than 50,000 miles in 2025, they won’t be bad cars at all. In fact, they aren’t bad new.

Why not make these V Sport and maintain the integrity of the V badge. Not fuck around with everything

A buddy of mine is about to be a GM at a MB dealership here in Texas. I always try to buy American vehicles, but if said vehicles that I want are underpowered... Mercedes CPO E63 it is!
Seriously, they should have just said that they were V-Sports. I wouldn’t be this mad.

Maybe because they realized the truth that had plagued them for so long
That V-Sport is a tacky ass name and it’s better to just rebrand the whole thing.
![]() 05/30/2019 at 20:31 |

Technically they are just copying Mercedes. I mean look at the 43 and 53 “AMGs”...

The story is not wrong, unfortunately. I linked t his CNet article in my post. Here’s the official official Press release from Cadillac

They’re bad when they'll be competing for the same amount of money against competitors packing over a hundred more horsepower.

The Edge ST is “only the beginning of thr future of the ST line”
Look how that's going.

I’m with you on the V sport. But calling it V makes me think it’s the top performer which is sad.

You should be thankful that Cadillac is using sports sedans as a jumping off point and not a V-badged XT4.

Maybe they finally admitted to themselves that V-Sport is a tacky name and have decided the best course of action is to rebrand the whole thing.
I like the idea of using their racing nomenclature for more extreme models. CT5-V.R would be badass.

Ah, yes, the integrity of a 15 year old badge...

The V series cars are some of the best driving vehicles. They have built a reputation that’s worth not fucking with.

Oh that would be tight. Now if they could only get rid of that tacky piece of plastic.
