Huh? They put the new Silverado engine in a sport sedan?

Dear Cadillac,
YOU STUPID PIECES OF ABSOLUTE DOG CRAP, WHY IN THE EVER-LOVING HELL DID YOU THROW THE 3.0 TT IN THE CT5?! THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO GO INTO THE LITTLE CAR, THE BLACKWING V8 WAS SUPPOSED TO GO INTO THE BIGGER CAR! EITHER ACTUALLY FUCKING TRY TO COMPETE OR JUST BE A “LUXURY” SUV MAKER LIKE MOTHER GM WANTS YOU TO. I WAS ROOTING FOR YOU; INSTEAD YOU BECAME A SUBSIDIARY OF BUICK.
Respectfully,
Patrick Bateman
Vice President, Pierce & Pierce

Wait. That 2.7T is the 4-banger?!
![]() 05/30/2019 at 19:09 |

Yup. Funny thing they had a poll on GM Authority and this had the lowest #of votes

These look like they were imported from Korea. Maybe North Korea.
![]() 05/30/2019 at 19:11 |

I surmised it had to be...it’s the only GM 2.7T I know of, and their power and torque ratings match.
![]() 05/30/2019 at 19:13 |

They sure messed this one up. The CT4-V should at least get the 400bhp version of the 3.0TT, and the CT5-V should definitely get the Blackwing V8.
![]() 05/30/2019 at 19:15 |
|
It appears that Cadillac spent years developing the Blackwing Hot V8 just to throw it into the CT6 for a few months and then chunk it into the trash.
This is horrible, horrible outcome for these “performance” vehicles.

I read that they’re going this way to lower the price and make the V series more accessible.
https://www.carscoops.com/2019/05/2020-cadillac-ct4-and-ct5-v-to-be-most-affordable-v-models-ever/
The comparable ATS-V had a turbo3.6 V6 with 450+HP but it cost $70K or more and no one bought that. Perhaps that is why they went this direction.
The numbers are good on the CT4 but they are not worthy of V, A V-Sport maybe. CT5-V should have had at least 400HP also.
![]() 05/30/2019 at 19:25 |
|
The numbers seem OK in a vacuum but look at the competition and even prior V Cars, it’s obvious they are nothing more than V-Sport cars posing as V cars. Apparently Cadillac wants to lower the price and make “V” series more affordable.

In the words of a Minnesotan, oof da. I like that the ct4 didn’t get the weird c pillar treatment but a 2.7 inline 4? No manual?
As a person on the verge of a good salary and a daughter soon to be out of day care I’m on the verge of being their target market and I gotta say; on paper it’s not doing much for me. S3 gets me a proven dual clutch auto ; 240i gets me a manual option.
![]() 05/30/2019 at 19:29 |

Wait, did the CT-4 just debut or was it out before. I think the CT-5 is the one with the weird DLO on the rear door. Damnit Cadillac, I’m a car guy and can’t keep up with this and the new names.

Those days are long gone. Better save up and get an older V series while you can or a Chevy SS

I hate the CT5 rear seat door window treatment. Looks like this:

Breaking News: The base C8 has the 4.3 and a CVT.
It seems like GM is trying their hardest to make sure they have the lowest sales.

Regular CT5 debuted a month ago: https://jalopnik.com/the-2020-cadillac-ct5-is-your-very-turbocharged-cts-rep-1833369834
Regular CT4 was never revealed, they went straight to CT4-V today as the first variant to be ever released. regular one will follow.
CT5-V was also released today.

Yup, I saw it in person at the NY auto show. Terrible design and it leads to a huge blindspot in the C pillar from the inside
Glad they spared it on the Ct4

CT5 CTS
XTS XT5
Also, the CT5 looks like it should be a hatchback

Dear Cadillac,
You’ve turned the V badge into an appearance package, and it’s pathetic. Both of these cars are a step backwards from the current ATS and literally every CTS. TBH I think I’m fine with you dying as a brand now.
Thanks,
Bman76

Agreed, it would totally make sense if these were V-Sports.
![]() 05/30/2019 at 19:49 |

I’ll give you that the interior looks gorgeous, major step up from the ATS. But that is a very low bar to beat.. .

It’s not just the power numbers; it’s everything revolving around these cars’ debut. Cadillac’s announcement was muted, their social media coverage was non-existent... It just felt like a total clusterfuck from the word “go”. And then the reveals. Can you imagine what would happen if Mercedes announced that they were revealing the future of their AMG vision, starting with their C and E-Classes, and handled everything like how GM just did? With MUCH lower performance figures to boot all in the name of affordability?
The business side of my brain understands why they’re doing what they’re doing, but it also sees how they screwed the pooch . My inner car nut/“Buy American” auto enthusiast is seething.

Came to post the same thing. These are V sports, not Vs. If this is as good as it gets, they’re DOA.

That CT4-V is already my favorite new Cadillac since the unveiling of the original ATS back in 2012. Clean lines, and I love the specs. Where can I put down a down payment for one with RWD and SuperCruise?

On the other hand, GM usually saves their biggest marketing fuckups for their best cars...

As someone who had a part in developing these cars , I am deeply disappointed and frustrated at the naming strategy chosen for these low-hp “V” packages. /w orks forgm

GM, as portrayed by Chris Pratt : “Look at our new hideous ass Chevy truck! Wow, everyone noticed! Great coverage! New features! WOOOOO LOOKY HERE AT THIS UGLY TRUCK!”
Also GM, being played by Eeyore : “Oh yeah, we have these two redesigned all-new luxury cars with bullshit engines. Someone light the sparklers. Woo.”
![]() 05/30/2019 at 20:07 |

Well they should be embarrassed when a regular ass BMW 340 makes more power.
Fuckheads.

How can Cadillac be proud of this Bedazzled Saturn? Its simply awful. Seriously, h ow can they not know this?
GM keeps trying to take all the money out of making a car and wonder why there is nearly universal criticism.
A nother Genuine GM LOSER designed by lawyers and accountants.
GM The Mark of Ugliness.

![]() 05/30/2019 at 20:31 |

I am sure it is much better inside than the ATS and it looks clean on the outside too. But are you ok with just 320/369 from a 2.7 4 cylinder truck engine on a “V” series car?
![]() 05/30/2019 at 20:35 |

Soooo...these are the V-sport variants, right?
right???
![]() 05/30/2019 at 20:35 |

Yes.

These are authentic “V” series high performance vehicles, I assure you
![]() 05/30/2019 at 20:42 |

So let me get this straight: The ATS-V’ s successor has reportedly almost 140hp LESS, and the CTS-V’ s is DOWN BY 50%???
I haven’t drank enough tonight to read this right.

I get why people are mad about the apparent power downgrades but what GM is doing here makes some sense to me: compare the HP figures with those for the Audi S3 and S4. I suspect that’s who GM is targeting with these. I would have preferred they were called V Sport since the classic V Series in the past was more RS/M grade, but I get it.

I’m getting strong “ BMW 5 Series GT” vibes from the CT5, and that is absolutely NOT a compliment. Gross.
![]() 05/30/2019 at 22:55 |

Yes, but they’ve been rebranded as V with a higher performance version to come.
