IT’S BETTER LOOKING THAN THE LAFERRARI!

Although !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , Ferrari has been teasing one for the last couple of days. Imagine my reaction when I opened my news feed this morning to see this gorgeous thing: The Ferrari SF90 Stradale!

Kinja'd!!!

Gone are the exaggerated swoopy lines of the LaFerrari. In their place are styling cues from the latest product to come from Pininfarina: The !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . From the front, the car looks somewhat conservative thanks to the new front air dam treatment and the revised headlights. You can easily see the Battista’s DNA in the car from this angle. The story is the same when you move towards the sides. A revised air intake and sculpted sides complete the resemblance, with the intake moving air under illusionary “flying buttresses.”

Kinja'd!!!

It s most interesting angle I think is from the rear. The rear window and transparent engine cover get a sort of “double-decker” treatment. The termination of the flowing lines from the roof and windows and the flying buttresses make the car look compact. The sculpted rear diffuser and exhaust placement dominate the rear end, and the newly squared-off taillights are definitely a cool touch.

Kinja'd!!!

Altogether, the entire car actually reminds me of some of the Fioravanti concept cars that came out in the 2000s. In conclusion, I think the new SF90’s design is a conservative but breathtaking departure. The new car also goes as fast as it looks. It comes with a newly-revised 4-Liter twin-turbo V8 making 770 horsepower and three electric motors making an additional 217 horsepower. Together, the whole system makes 986 horsepower and will propel the 1600 kilogram car to 212 miles per hour.

Kinja'd!!!

The SF90 will come in two models: the “standard” model, and the “Assetto Fiorano” model. The Assetto Fiorano will feature high-tech shock absorbers, carbon fiber door panels, underbody panels, and titanium springs and exhaust. Though I’ll likely never own anything like this, at least I can appreciate the design!

Kinja'd!!!

What do you think? Do you like the design of the new SF90 Stradale?

I’m sure it will be much better in person but to me it just looks like a more overdone version of their current design language in these renders.

That’s funny; I got the opposite take.

I think the front and the sides are a little more conservative compared to their other offerings. But, the back end is chock-full of interesting details. I’m sure I’ve seen student designs that were similar.

Those taillights remind me of the Fioravanti F100 concept.

I can see the Ford GT and the Camaro, but where does the F-body Camaro fit in? Is it the side sills?

Maybe it's the angle but the rear double deck thing looks awkward. Then again, I'm not a buttress guy.

The squinty face. Though the SF90 is certainly more squinty.

I dunno, I’m sure the tech is cool and the car is going to run like a demon but I am having trouble getting past the looks.  Its mainly that rear hatch area.

Yeah, I think the car would look a little more attractive if they aped engine bay design from the Battista. Then again, I like the design reference to the older Ferraris of the ‘80s.

Yeah, I’m noticing a lot of people are undecided on the rear hatch. I like it because it’s different. I think the rear of a fast car is usually the most detailed because it’s the part that most people will look at when something like this is speeding away!

Love how clean some 80s sports cars are. Are the brake lights photos hopped out in that 512 pic? Kinda wish they went with a different design on the SF90 as the ovals seem out of place with the rest of the design.

Might be. Not too sure since I just yanked an image from Google.

Are you talking about the circles near the engine cover? Yeah, I thought that was an interesting choice too, but I would rather have an opening with mesh or something there.

That why I thought the car reminded me of something Fioravanti would have done in the 2000s lol.

I definitely like the direction they are going in. Also like that it is the same name as this year’s F1 car.

Actually I was referring to the brake lights but now that you mention those ovals... must be the fuel cap and the plug port. Can’t wait to hear it in anger.

I think the engine window being so far back and so low is a bit off putting. What’s even in there? Can you see the engine? Is it that far back?

Generally very cool though. Unique without being ugly

Yeah, I feel like those should be squared off a bit too.

I do like the taillights though. I wasn’t really a fan of the single-light configuration. The 458 was an exception though.

I personally don’t like the look of the LaFerrari, nor do I like this; the same goes for most of their recent mid-engine designs, but I do like the F8 Tributo.

I think the best looking cars they’ve made recently are the F12tdf and the 812.

That said, this looks like the kind of car that would probably be much prettier in person. The photos aren’t flattering.

My thoughts exactly! They just wanted to give you a little peek at the ne w 4-liter engine lol.

KingTChalla posted the video of the car in an earlier comment. I can attest that the car looks even better in motion.

I actually don’t like the design of the F12TDF, but the 812 looks good. I think the 812 would look even better if they got rid of those headlights and redesigned the face to look more like the Ferrari Pininfarina Sergio.
