I was on the ice for 10 hours this weekend, and my skating posture isn’t exactly NHL caliber. Today I can kind of walk, skipped the gym, learning better stretches with my time instead . Damn age.

I spent Saturday and Sunday working in the yard moving dirt and rock. I don’t feel too bad, but my knees and back have been protesting most of the day.

Bodyweight squats are my nemesis. Small/short people can do them really easily.

If you want them to go quicker, do them in intervals. I kid you not, racing the clock gets them done faster than just counting to 100.

Try sets of 10 reps every 20 seconds, then rest 10 seconds and start again . 10 sets (~ 5 mins) will breeze by.

Remember to always begin and end with the hips, not the knees. Butt goes back, torso goes down. A lot of noobs try to come straight down on their knees because moving the hips backwards feels awkward at first.

I’m 5’10” with most of it in the legs. My knees have issues so I try to do this right (left knee was hyper extended in 8th grade and only fully recovered a couple of years ago). Yet, I’m still going to regret this in a couple of days.

It’s not the squats that get me, it’s lunges.  I can do squats all day, and I definitely get sore, but whenever I do lunges I’m freakin crippled for days.  I dread the toilet, going down stairs is death.  Leg day is the day I know I grow, therefore I love it, but sweet Mary it’s the worst for recovery...
