Edit: What do you think about a spotless spare tire but heavy rust on the jack which sits in the spare tire recess. The spare wheel well has obviously had water in it. The carpets is also SPOTLESS, so much so that I can’t tell if It is new or just super clean . Normally I would nope out very quickly but everything else is virtually rust free (oh the heat shield for the catalytic converter is rusty. Everything else is what one would except for a well cared for vehicle of those miles. don’t know what to think. The cars, runs, drives and shifts very, very well. The car also tracks perfectly. Ive never seen a vehicle track that straight before.

So I pulled the spare tire on my Legacy, and found water sitting in it (the foam holder for the jack) , but no water anywhere else, and after repeated checking for wet somewhere in the trunk with rains here; I came to the conclusion that it is from condensation due to the high humidity here. Could that be the cause of it in this car?

What Honda was it? Could give more insight to the Jack rust. Also was the spare a steelie or alloy? And what year was the spare? Reason I ask is the could have replaced the rim /put a new tire in due to age and if its brand new something is up.
