To quote my 15 year old son, “What the fuck, dude ?” If we get to murder somebody with our dying wish, I have better ideas than the poor dog.

I feel like that owner maybe doesn’t understand loving something.

Ok it’s fucking pathetic enough that this shitty owner wanted this. But what in the FUCK is wrong with the executor of the estate? Maybe euthanize him/her and bury them with the dog too.

Dude....they should just wait a few years for the dog to die. Then at least it could provide companionship and joy for others in the meantime . What a waste.
Alabama needs to outlaw this! Calling my senators.

Someone should explain to the executor that it's not spelled executioner

Ah man. My dogs would be sad if I weren’t around anymore, but then they’d turn right around and mark my remains/ashes/gravesite .
It’s okay, I’d do the same for them.

Wait, you live in Alabama?

We must come up with a way to resurrect people just so we can all tell this person what an asshole they are.

There was also this one I saw this morning. Though, the dog is worse I’d say.

While the various parties in the article admit that other options were considered and the decision was not simple, t he late owner’s self-centredness was appalling.

Wow just wow

Yep, 25 years and counting. Moved here in high school, stayed for college, never left. It’s a schizophrenic state...for example, nobody at all knew this law was coming and we’re all basically ignoring it as political posturing.
The political class here represents about the 20% of the most vocal (and connected) people. Hence the white male representation, even though the state itself is pretty diverse.

This could happen in many places, unfortunately. In Virginia, dogs are just considered property. I run over your rescue dog, I owe you replacement value, nothing more.

For some reason I thought you were in NC or GA. Aside from a trip to Mobile when I was quite young, my recent experience with AL has been to drive across it with as few stops as possible. Nothing personal, mind you.

Not at all. We like to joke that our reputation keeps the crowds down. For any middle or upper-middle class person with a college education, you’d be hard pressed to find a better quality of life than Huntsville or the Birmingham suburbs. It’s the kind of thing that take a million-dollar salary to afford most anywhere else.
The flipside is that a huge chunk of the state is undereducated and relatively poor — hence the statistics and reputation (everything from obesity to infant mortality is skewed heavily by places with high poverty). It’s a weird dichotomy, not too far from the developing world. But if you stay in your bubble most of the time, it can be the envy of most of the US. That’s not reality, though...except for maybe the politicians.
Georgia is arguably worse. It’s bolstered by Atlanta, but most of the state is substantially smaller cities and rural areas. That gap is very stark.

Hopefully they find the vet and make life miserable for them...
