What's more surprising, a BMW with 270k miles or a clean Dodge Omni?

Omnis were surprisingly fun to drive in manual form (compared to contemporary econoboxes anyway) but disintegrated rapidly.

$1 says that Omni is owned by an octogenarian that bought it new.

My mom had an Omni. Bosch fuel injection, along with other wonders. Great gas mileage, too.

Tha t is the safest wager that has ever been made. Barely even a bet.

Fun fact: every time I see a Mercedes Benz GLC off in the distance ahead of me in traffic, I think it’s a Dodge Omni. The rear styling isn’t exactly identical, but they look close enough that it fools me every time.

And it probably has about 45k original miles, too.

My aunt had one of the early non-2.2 Omnis and she said it was the worst car she's ever had. It was always broken.

You may need to get your eyes checked

Yeah; I guess there must have been a carbureted version. Mom’s Omni was remarkably okay, though I don’t expect the interior held up well.

I’ve owned both...I’ll take the K car.

No doubt. It's probably kept garaged nine months a year at their third home here.

I’ve spent enough money on BMW’s in my lifetime...that’s all. I’d drive that Omni anywhere...I wouldn’t trust the BMW to go half as far.

Not close up, when it’s off in the distance. It’s something to do with the rear glass and the sheet metal around it. I think the location of the Benz badge and the model name have something to do with it.

I’ve long stood by the assertion that if I found a cheap manual omni in half-decent shape (a unicorn around here in the land of rotted-out-junk) I’d buy it just for fun.
