Lots of rain, lightning, and thunder to start the day. One of our doggos has been afraid of the weather Ever since a tornado hit our house. Now she’s just a mess every time there’s a thunderstorm. We’ve tried everything from a thunder shirt (yeah, that’s a thing) to Benadryl. If we had more storms to deal with, we’d seriously consider sedation.
Fortunately, these too shall pass. In the meantime, we will be spending our morning distracting and comforting our goofy dog.

Sorry for you Doggo. One of mine also severe anxiety from thunderstorms (to the extent of thinking it is the end of her doggo world while hiding inside a closet or bathtub and then having gastrointestinal issues for the next day or two ).
You might talk to your vet about some medication options. Trazodone (the human anti-depressant) is commonly used in dogs where it functions as an anti-anxiety med without being a sedative (which would leave a dog still terrified, just sedated and terrified). It changed Shelby’s life for the better. She still doesn’t like storms, but they’re no longer the end of her doggy world. We give her half a 200mg tablet in a bit of peanut butter sandwich whenever clouds start building up or it is foretasted to rain.
