I took Toby for a walk at Lost Lake Park, which on the drive there I realized would be a great place to explore the hills on the bike. I haven’t really posted about it, but I  had a problem with tendinitis at the insertion point of my Achilles tendon. The trainer has been helping me, and I finally felt up to testing it.

As always, humanity tends to find a way to disappoint.

The ankle held up well on this short hike. I think I am not quite 100%, but I am pleased with my progress. For a long time it felt like it wasn’t getting better, and it was really painful. The trainer kept telling me that the big tendons take a long time to heal, and I guess he was right. He also told me I pushed myself too hard too soon, like his fucking kinesiology degree gives him some great insight. (I actually really like the guy which is why I pay him a lot to train me. He has really helped me make a lot of progress from a sorry state.)

A little over a year ago I would have dealt with my stress at the bar. I have not had a drop of alcohol since the heart attack, so over a year now. I don’t miss it, and wish J had quit years earlier. That, diet, and slowly gaining physical strength and conditioning through exercise has left me feeling pretty good. I worked for a few hours on opposition to class certification motion while Toby napped in the office, and I feel pretty good again. Kirby is pissed off about the rain, though.

Glad your healing. Tendons can take ages to heal and pushing too hard can reset the time, even making it even longer this time to heal.

Toby is amazing, dogs are amazing. They see so much and want to be part of it, everything is exciting and interesting to them.

I love the Toby action shots, such a good Boi. Keep listening to your trainer (not that I ever did). I always poked fun at the other athletes for getting a “bs” kinesiology degree while I busted my ass in engineering and athletics, but they really do know their shit. You definitely look slimmer than the last time I saw you. And if your cardiologist is happy, plus you feel good, you are doing something right!

I’ve seen so many people struggle to quit drinking, so that is a great accomplishment too. There are so many ways to relieve stress in a healthy way, you just have to find what works for you. Keep on keeping on and I hope to see you soon

Dogs live in the moment. We could learn a lot from them!

Nice action shots!

Don’t be mistaken and push the tendons too hard. If they don’t heal on their own, the next phase is a shot in the tendon (hurts like hell). If that doesn’t work, surgery.
