Ive never seen a tire wear marker quite like this.
I guess when the message is gone you need new tires? These are my wife’s General Altimax RTs.

Continental has this too, says "DW" or "DWS". Same design considering General is owned by Conti.

I’m trying to think of which tires... but I have seen that on one of our vehicles. Ah, the perils of having too many cars.

I’m pretty sure in addition to this type I’ve seen one that only becomes readable when the tires are worn out.

And Conti’s has different cut depths for the letters, too - so the tire automatically says what conditions it’s good in.

I’ve seen it before, but only because I’ve also had General Altimaxs. Thought it was neat.

Continental/General also have alignment wear markers on the outside tread so you can see if you’re out of wack.

Yep been on generals for awhile now. Great indicator for the average consumer who has no clue

It will wear down to say “REPLACE TIRE”. Replace and Tire are molded in deeper.

Nokian snows have something similar with a countdown built into the tread. Message is a bit less direct, but the have a progression as you work your way through the numbers.

General’s been doing that on their tires for years. Just a gimmick, really.

Kuhmo SPT had it;

Its cooler than just disappearing with wear:
