I know for a fact the wax I have isn’t durable, but the sealant combo still held up pretty well. Water still slid right off when I hit like 70-80 km/h.

Which wax, and how did you prep? I have some waxes that’ll last 6 months through winter, so it’s not exactly cut and dry.

Chemical Guys JetSeal then layered on with Pete's 53. The Jetseal lasts a bit but the wax is a wipe on wipe off type.

This. I do a clay bar prep and just Maguire's ultimate wax on my truck and it beads well for 4-5 months, with a two bucket wash with a wash+wax as maintenance in between

If you want to take it a step further, panel wipe the paint after clay for even better adhesion of the sealant. You can make panel wipe by mixing 1 part isopropyl alcohol (90%) with 5 parts water (distilled if you have hard water). Wipe the paint down to remove and left over oils from polish or cleaners/spray detailer/clay lubricant. Once done you can apply your wax/sealant. This is a set required for a paint coating.

Pete’s 53 should last 3-5 months. It might not be bonding well to your jet seal, or your jet seal isn’t binding well to your paint.
