Do not fear, the original guts (except zip drive) have all been sent to a friend who is using it for retro
gaming.
Dell Dimension XPS T500 case
400W FSP Group 80+ power supply
Dell Optiplex 390 motherboard + cooler
Intel Core i5 2500 3.3GHz quad core processor
6GB DDR3 RAM (from spares)
AMD FirePro V3900 1GB PCIe video card
TEAC DV-W524GSB DVDRW drive
Iomega Zip 250 (not connected, probably will replace with a 3.5" USB front panel)
3.5" floppy drive (not connected)
640GB 7200RPM Western Digital HD
180GB Intel 520 SSD
Windows XP Professional
USB 3.0 PCIe card
HP Compaq LA2405wg 1920x1200 24" display
Altec Lansing ACS495 2.1 speakers
Logitech G500s mouse
IBM Model M 1391401 keyboard
Side panel. This baby has been retrobrighted.
The rear... Opening is too narrow to fit the motherboard’s I/O shield.
Drive bays galore! Stuck a 92mm fan in the primary HD bay since the machine would complain about no HD fan on startup.
Closer view of the messy cables. Not much cable management involved, unless stuffing wires into the drive bays counts.
Front panel was a bit annoying to get to work... it has *2* sets of front panels. One for the proprietary 5 pin Optiplex power button... had to use a jumper to short 2 pins. The other one, well I just used some Arduino male to female wires and routed them to the correct pins.
Closer look at the video card

Greeted by this every bootup... I resolved the fan failure one but the other one is something I’ll have to live with.

“ Iomega Zip 250 (not connected, probably will replace with a 3.5" USB front panel)”.
Boo!
Nice job though!
Also, gotta love those Dell missing components errors!

I’m about 99% certain I had this computer around 2000 or so.

I pulled the hard drive and recycled it during one of those community electronic recycling days, along with my 27" Sony Trinatron TV. That fucking TV weighed 200 lbs.
