Went from 21 year old Kelly Chargers (Yes, I know, it wasn’t very smart to drive on them, I couldn’t help myself. They had no dry rot or cracking, so I figured they’d be alright until I got the new ones, and they were)....
To brand new Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/Ts.
Size is 275/60/15. It’s made to fit by a spacer (with longer studs, don’t worry, the lugnuts have PLENTY of engagement) and rubber bushings to raise the rear a little. Pappaw has run it this way for at least 20 years, so I know it’s alright.
The tires made such a big difference, I mean, I knew they would, but it still blew me away.
Wheelhop? Gone. Feeling like it’s coming unsettled over bumps? Not anymore. Immediately jumping sideways under throttle in the rain? Well, it still spins the tires, but it’s much easier to keep it straight. Also, the sound went from a high pitched screech to a deep howl.
I have to get the car looked at, though. The check engine light is on and neither O’Reilly’s I took it to were able to get the codes. Probably the Carbon canister or EGR valve. The car still runs great, I’ve been daily driving it for about 3 weeks.
The throwout bearing, which has chattered for 15 years or so, is driving me crazy.
I also put a new stereo and speakers in it, and the speakers sound blown. Fucked if I know why.
But this car is an addiction.

They truly are something special, I think I am going to work on the interior of mine for a little bit and install my Momo Prototipo wheel. I also need to get started on the alternator swap from a 1G to 3G system. LMR had a deal a few weeks back on radiators and fans so I also need to swap that over too . Soon the only thing connected to my engine will be the alternator.

I prefer to think of it as F-body Friday, but since I'm not doing fuck all with the Camaro I'll have to concede it.

That’s okay, I haven’t touched our Camaro lately.

I’m still running the 2G (Which is what ‘89s have. 86 was the last year for 1G IIRC). I know the 3G is a solid upgrade, but mine’s working well enough to where I can’t justify it to myself.
The only people who trashtalk Foxbodys are people who’ve never experienced them. I’d rather have this ‘89 than a brand new one.

A Fox Mustang with a 5 speed, an E303 cam, a Mac exhaust and 3.73s is far more fun than it has any right to be. Even a ragged out total POS Fox body can put a big smile on your face!

Mine is 3.55s, 5 speed, stock exhaust minus mufflers, stock cam. Stupidly fun.

I’ve had a couple with automatics... Even they're fun!

Had a friend in high school with a white saleen convertible and lusted after them ever since. Your hatch looks in great shape. Glad it’s being loved.

You’re right about the alternator but honestly they were both so garbage they might as well not have even been installed XD. Its l ucky yours is still decent but you will want to make the upgrade at some point especially since you modified the sound system. There are usually d eals on conversion kits so I tossed one in while ordering other parts. When I take the old one out I’ll take it to work as a desk ornament and label it as a turbo. As a daily I might say otherwise but as a mischiefmobile the foxbody is the way to go. By the way incase you want to upgrade your seats I really reccomend using a Corbeau. Installation went a lot smoother than what I had to do to get my Recaro Profi SPG in the car.

I love the stock seats, actually, but thanks for the tip. I daily it in everything except snow. If this alternator craps out, I’ll do the upgrade.
