TIL that UAZ of America used to be a real thing.
I guess I was too busy with college at the time to notice.

They were headquartered in the US, but sales were exclusively in Latin America/Caribbean. I remember going immediately from really excited to really disappointed when I heard about them.

I have a feeling this fell through. But they were in fact sold in Mexico for years.
