This is an Aston Vantage AMR.

Kinja'd!!!

It’s now going to be available with seven (yes, seven. Count them) manual gears with a dog leg first and the other six in a double H.

Kinja'd!!!

We don’t often see first out there.

Unless you drive a manual Scania obviously. Bonus points if you know the significance of C, RH and RL and why it also has 4,5 and 6.

I guess:

C= crawl

RH+RL= some sort of transfer case 4 low and 4 high? But that doesn’t make much sense on a trans shifter

I support this message

Dog Legs for all!

Also, two speed rear end. 123 low, change the ratio in the rear end, then 456

Very cool. How many 7 speed manuals are out there? AFAIK the Corvette and 911?

Reverse high, reverse low for the RH and RL. I’ll copy everyone else and guess C is for crawl.

Nearly! High reverse and low reverse. Reverse is very low so is usable in high range.

RH is reverse (high range), RL is therefore low reverse. Not shown: switches for selecting high/low and splitter, so 1-3 in L, switch to H, back to 1 which is now 4. That gives six gears plus crawler (low range only), all of these can be split to high and low so 14 gears in total.

Nearly, the high/low range gearbox is at the front with the two speed splitter. The actual layout is splitter, main, range change.

Wish more things had doglegs. Would make parallel parking easier. Plus in my car, you’re locked out of 1st if you’re moving, so I end up slipping the clutch in 2nd a lot anyways, so it’s fine if 1st is tucked off in another gate.
