I need to engage in some Miata shenanigans. Any ideas? Preferably cheap.

buy a truck.

Anything. I’ve just been commuting in it, and using it for sunny top down drives. Which—don’t get me wrong—is great. But I haven’t done anything crazy for a while. No offroading, no winter storms, no drifting, no mods....

buy some really cheap wheels and tires, inflate them inside of an ABS or plastic pipe, rip mad donuts.

You can buy mine for whatever the Celica on BaT will cost. Seems fair.

Is that a thing people do?!

Every time it rains here I’ve been doing some slidey bois on the commute home. Since its spring my commutes have been fun as fuck.

Get the car jack to lift it up,
and then
start stacking rocks under the back tires.....

The parts are sitting in my shed. Mayb e I should try to get that going again.

I'll agree to this only if it doesn't sell

Oh, this was almost a year ago. Middle of a snowstorm on top of a mountain, quickly getting dark . We had a bottle jack so we’d jack it up, push it off the lift, Jack it up, push it off, and repeat. There weren’t any rocks we could get to :/
If I'd sent it instead of trying to slowly find a safe path I wouldn't have gotten stuck...

It’s the best isn’t it?
Unfortunately with my leaky top (that’s only a year old ) driving in the rain isn’t fun. If the car doesn’t move, rain won’t get in but if I’m driving....
Wet roads and clear sky's are what I aim for now. Although honestly with the winter tires still on, I can slide around on dry pavement without issue. I've probably gotten a bit too comfortable doing so

Man buys car, puts money into car, immediately starts thinking of ways to break car.
Seems reasonable.
Why don’t you find a runaway truck ramp and see how high you can get on it?

Seeings it looks like you enjoy off-roading:
I might know a guy who could get you more ground clearance.

Is the leak patchable or pluggable?

There’s one obvious solution for a leaky top.

Ov erinflate the tires and weld the diff, or find a path of smooth sweeping dirt road.(fyi the dirt road method works for fwd’s too. )
Ch eapest option is to go explore new roads that lead somewhere you dont go often, or have not been to. The longer the journey the better, usually with something trivial at the end like a burger joint you wish to eat at before you head 350 miles home.

You have roads worth driving on within a reasonable distance, go drive on them!

Clearly it needs a winch... and maybe bushbars.
