Nah, a wire hook or loop of string is perfectly fine, especially for ones that are either glass or are heavy with lots of sharp corners.

Given how thin sheet metal is, I wonder how much that suction cup things fuck up your roof.

Looks like it’s got straps that go in via the doors and around the roof as a whole like a cheap kayak ‘rack’ - the ‘suction cups’ might just be more of feet so the frame doesn’t trash the paint.
