.... when you find cutting up and hauling away 397 lbs of yard waste extremely therapeutic?

Life is neither good or bad but taking  joy in yardwork may be a signal that your dad time is approaching.

I find using a chain saw therapeutic.

Completing something is always enjoyable, unlike the purgatory of most work in my industry. Does yours have closure?

Closure is seeing a slight increase in my savings account on the first of each month for the short term.

Ugh, I’d have to buy something with full leather or vinyl.

Just throw the child on one of those dog hammocks for the back seat.

I spent 3 hours cleaning the house, & I liked it. Is that what an adult is being like?

I take it you got the master cylinder replaced.

I found zen today by mopping my house and rewiring an old motorcycle, last weekend it was yard work. However, I have two kids who are constantly trying to destroy everything in my home.

I think it’s cyclical. When I bought my first house I hated the cutting up and hauling off. Eventually I spent money on better tools and the pruning and hauling off in the spring and fall became very satisfying. I loved the sense of accomplishment looking at the yard after. Then one day I said to myself: “Why the hell am I spending all day doing this several times a year?” And I sold my house on half an acre and moved into one on a tiny lot.  I’m pretty sure I’m going to end up planting trees and putting in grass at some point just to give myself an excuse to do yard work but for now I’m enjoying spending the time that I would be pruning trees out hiking around county and national forest trails that surround my subdivision.

Since I seem to be doing this every other day on our place...I find it good.

If it had plumbing, in the SF Bay Area where I live, it would be worth about $1,300/mo. But maybe not at 8'x6'. You’re PNW, right?

Seeing any increase in my savings makes me happy, too. My household has been running a deficit since last year and it has severely stressed me out. Looking forward to making more than we spend again ( at least we made more than we spent for quite a while before that, so we’re not in debt).
