Seriously... I have reviewed
the 8 speed auto SS and it was fun. I have reviewed
the 10 speed auto ZL1 and it was an absolute
beast. But out of those 3 I would probably have this one. A 2018 SS 1LE. The way it drives is just phenomenal, you can’t fathom how good this gen 6 C
amaro is until you drive it.
I think Chevy is the leader of the pack at the moment
, at least until I get my hands on a 2018 Mustang with the performance goodies.
It has to be pretty darn good to be on par with the driving experience and feel
of this car though!

It’s actually interesting that the current Camaro is the better overall performer by most publications, but currently 3rd in sales.
But it was similar back in the F-body days. The Camaro had an even bigger lead against the Mustang in performance, but the Camaro/Firebird were outsold combined 2 to 1 against the Mustang.
I think price and daily usability/practicality has hurt the Camaro with this generation.
I also wonder why don’t they sell them internationally like the Mustang. Almost half of all Mustang sales are now international, the Camaro with is better chassis dynamics I would think would do well internationally as well.

Still no T-tops, still no visibility :(

The 4th gen V6 Camaro was faster than the V8 Mustang! And it even had T-TOPS!!!!!!!!!!! But yeah, the practicality issues do suck, though. The Camaro/Firebird always sucked in terms of space and usability :(

Hopefully that doesn’t lead to the cancellation of the platform like it did with the F-body for several years.
I can’t believe the ancient Challengersaurus is beating the Camaro. A car that was already on an old E-Class platform when it was new and it’s a decade older now.

You knew... you knew I was looking at the ZL1 today didn't you.

hehehe the new Challenger platform is older than the 4th gen Camaro!
If GM gave the new Camaro T-tops and real windows, it would be
a hit! A lower base price might help, but the other two things are more imporant

True :)
Though I think this shot of the next gen Camaro really shows what bothers people today, lack of visibility and that “bunker” feel from the current model.
Looks like GM is really going to keep pushing that design (sarcasm)

It’s because the Camaro isn’t cool. The Challenger is dripping with personality, and the Mustang to a lesser extent just has more visual charisma than the Camaro (and a better sounding V8).
GM is the class leader in performance (see also Cadillac), but has no idea how to capitalize on the intangible cool factor. The Corvette is the only exception I can think of across the entire GM portfolio .

They should not even make muscle cars with autos

The ZL1 I reviewed was
savage... I can’t imagine driving one with the same power-level
in a stick shift. That would be nasty.

I’d say yes, but my daily is an old dinosaur* with an auto V8 and it’s mighty lazy and comfortable in rush hour traffic. Lately though, I have gotten an itch to improve the handling... Please talk me out of it... I have been looking at 07-09 GT500 wheels and a 255 square setup to start... Then coilover conversion, bigger brakes... Get the front end repainted, hail damage fixed, trunk fixed (PO had a little mishap there, but most people don’t even notice it until they are right on it). Marauder wing... And then performance mods.
It’s a slippery slope...
*(it’s a 2007 Grand Marquis,
the Panther platform dates back to 1979)

I really wonder if the T-tops will ever come back. But, then I will always look back to the one that wore them best... The 1978 Firebird.

The challenger gives you that old school feeling. I have reviewed one of those
too and boy... It just oozes 1970 ponycar wars! I would have a 392 powered version of the one below in a heartbeat.

Yeah, that would be quite a handful I reckon. Since I am looking for it to be my new daily I probably will go for the 10-speed. My M ustang is enough to sate my need for a manual. I definitely like the interior but my god that rear visibility is as bad as everyone says it is. The rearview mirror/camera and blind spot sensors are more of a necessary item than an option with that car. Its just mind blowing that a Camaro of all things has been brought up to this level.

I know that feeling. The panther can be made to handle quite well surprisingly. And good amount of parts for them.
My V8 vehicle (Besides the Powerstroke) is a LS1 FC RX7 with a T56. Its amazing. Will be even better if i ever finish it
