Well in the spirit of Eurys post here is my dilemma. Looking at a 2017 Ram 4x4 hemi big horn short bed standard cab. It’s has only 7100 miles on it and still under warranty till the end of the year. Dealer price is 25900 and it stickerd 41500. Its more than I wanted to spend but it’s a practically new and a rare spec.
Im so tempted. I’ve been DD beaters for over a decade and I want a fun daily but my current stable consists of the 2013 Boss a 06 mustang project car and my wife’s Fost. I need something to soak up bumps and it’s been a long time since I had a truck.

Thats kinda why I want it. It would check off a lot of wants.

Do you live in an area where rust is prone? That would be my biggest concern with a Ram. Pretty much every Ram I’ve seen that’s over roughly 6 years old or so has rust issues in the wheel arches. Maybe FCA fixed that, but I’d be cautious.
Otherwise it seems like a good deal for that amount of truck

Where on earth did you find that? What a steal, I’ve been wanting a shorty lately too. https://www.marlettechryslerjeepdodgeram.com/used/Ram/2015-Ram-1500-marlette-mi-ec919f5e0a0e0ae87afe8cc7fd59ba42.htm This is so far the only one I’ve found near me but I feel like the price is kinda high.
Drove this thing yesterday https://www.bluewaterchryslerdodgejeep.com/certified/Dodge/2018-Dodge-Charger-Port-Huron-23dd981c0a0e0aea232b94da76368181.htm
Probably will just keep my old bmws and drive slow on bumpy roads though, I’m afraid of debt and commitment.

I don’t know truck pricing but this seems like a pretty good deal to me.
And imho, bonus points for the standard cab, short bed, 4x4 configuration. Gotta be a near unicorn??

That’s pretty much my exact thought. I can find em in Express and tradesman trim but big horn gets the sweet console and heated seats.
Stupid name tho.

I’ll talk you out of it.
It’s a Dodge.

Yeah me too on the debt thing but I’d only be borrowing 12000 so....... This thing got to be a special order. I can find em in Express trim like the one you posted but this is the only big horn I’ve seen.

Well technically a Ram.

Oh yeah, huge bonus for being a Big Horn.
Big Horn is a stupid name.
King Ranch is a stupid name
High Country is a stupid name
Denali may be the stupidest of all, but GMC has normalized it

Im not sure what the difference between express and the big Horn is. I've been thinking about Jeep's too since they hold value better, but haven't driven a jk yet. Haven't driven a short ram either but I have driven the tradesman quad cab. I just don't want that large of a vehicle. And I also love my e28 but it would have to go and the roads are so bad I feel bad driving it sometimes

Big horn gets the cool console dash and heated seats. I daily a p71 crownvic now and the Ram feels wider a little bit but way shorter and it rides better which surprises me. A little bouncy but better than a 2 door wrangler. Jeep was on my list but I really like this truck.

Nice price. There is a similar one in Kentucky but they want 2000 more.

If it had a bench seat it would be more attractiv e to me, but to only be able to take one passenger is kind of limiting.

I love the Big Horn package and the Ram is probably my top choice on the truck market. Price seems ok for the mileage, but then again could be lower since most Regular Cabs tend to be lot poison. I’d personally go for a Quad cab for a little extra space, but that’s just me.

Shouldn’t be too hard to get a Chevy for the same price, if you can find one spec’d similarly.

I think that's why it's so cheap.

Yeah I'm hoping to beat em up a little on price. It's just me and the wife so what the hell.

Sticker means nothing on these. This truck was probably sold anywhere from $10000-$12000, maybe even up to $17000 under MSRP. Is it still a good price? Maybe, I guess if it checks all the boxes for you, then it is a good deal.

Best I can do is 31000 new Express package and that’s with employee discount.
But yeah sticker is irrelevant.

The Ram rot yeah I'm aware.
