Making big deal financial decisions, in this order?

1. How much money should I put away for my kids to waste use for college.

2. Save a good down payment for a Golf SportW agon 4 Motion ?

3. More money into my retirement account ?

4 . Should I commit to buying shit tons of company stock, for the sacrifice of items 1-3 ?

These and many other decisions await. News at 10.

Just had this discussion with co-worker on the way back from lunch. Our bonuses were paid last week, and I promptly went through and moved money around to cover property and income taxes next year, made the annual contributions to kids 529's, and moved some  into the account we earmark for house / car repairs (already have decent house list that needs attention).

Money into retirement over the others. The kids can work their way through college.

I would like about 3 years of college tuition saved up. If a state school that should be around 10k a year around these parts.

The VW Golf SportWagon has a just a bit over base 1.8L Turbo and it would be the highest horsepower car in my fleet.

Logical answer makes sense. The stock purchase is a fuck ton of money and would preclude all other options.

I have a cat that’s become expensive, but that is it. My E92 M3 will need repairs.

Then the rest of my moneyz goes to Stocks!

We have a target of 50% for state school plus expenses (and inflation and raising rates).  But I also have 4 kids to save for....

Are you me? Am I you? I’m aiming to get my daughter $60k(she’s 4 so I have time; but I’d rather get more up front ). I need to bump my 401k contribution up. I want a golf sportwagen 4 motion but the second hand market is thin and I’m not buying one new(in part because of all of the above) - so I look at GTIs and past gen A3 quattros.

Reason to buy golf sport wagon new: 1-1.9% financing, $4k discounts from MSRP, 7/72k warranty . It’s an easy decision for me, $23k out the door and a $5k down payment I could pay the car off in 4 years.

Yeah it sucks, I’m in a union and someday my number will be low enough that I could pick and choose how much I work. But not right now, I stay on a big company call list that bypasses the seriority, they get 30 people per company. But I have to stay rolling and it get rough, and I’m in the Bay Area so I still can’t get a place with a garage etc... In other parts of the country I would be doing pretty well! But I basically have the vehicles I want, just have to maintain them now and I would love to house them in one place, I have never had them all in one location at any time.

BTW looks like I’m getting my Dads bone stock 1971 240z in the next few weeks . It needs the seats rebuilt, struts, tires and alignment and it’s a driver. It will never be as nice as yours but I’m looking forward to torque again.

Oh nice, I would love to build a rally car from a rough 240 someday if I had the space and money. I am happy with how my orange one went, probably not totally done with it, when the Dodge is done and time passes I’m sure I’ll get the itch, my friend wants to put a mild cam in it and I would like an LSD and bigger front brakes perhaps . Techno Toy Tuning has some really cool shit for S30s, I don’t want to go nuts but I have their front strut braces and I would like their mustache bar ect..if I redid the rear end. it   Well we have had tons of rain lately and I noticed some weird air bubbles under my paint by the hatch key button. So we will probably repaint my hatch, maybe the seal isn’t good by the button, also there is a spoiler so maybe that. Not a big deal but it will have to wait til after the Dodge is done. My friend has had tons of delays with stuff he has had to do for his business so I can’t really complain. Maybe a couple months til we get it mostly done and out of the shop.
