A few months ago I decided to replace the entire brake system on my 300d because of a leaking seal between the master cylinder and booster and seizing caliper pistons . This didn’t go as planned for many reasons. Firstly, the auto parts store kid forgot to actually place my order and I waited 4 days for nothing. Then he ordered the wrong rotors and they didn’t fit, then one of my brand new calipers didn’t come with any threads for the brake line, so after 4 complete dissasemblies and reassembles I decided to give up for a while and deal with the sticking caliper. This week I finnaly decided to dive back in so I rush ordered a caliper so it would get here in time for me to work on it this Saturday. Turns out the parts guy ordered the wrong side AND brand. I want to kill mys elf

For some reason, American parts shops that don’t specialize in German brands tend to fuck up German parts orders. I had issues getting brake parts on a 1998 Jetta GL (a.k.a. the cheapass base trim). Might want to look for a local specialty shop and see if they can just import the parts for you or give you some part numbers. Most will give you a connection or the part #s as a gesture of kindness, especially if they know you probably weren’t going to them anyways.

Sounds like almost all of your woes can be traced to a moronic parts store employee.

Next time save yourself the hassle and just order everything from Rock Auto or FCP Euro.

Find a parts store that doesn’t suck.

There’s one place locally I just stopped going to because the kid who works the counter is clueless and useless at looking up parts, and the rest of the staff when they’re there isn’t much better. Luckily just down the street are more options.

Rock Auto, select your own parts, order your own parts based on pictures , if there is a mistake, easy returns.

Check with a dealer. Mercedes still supports a lot of legacy vehicles. They’re a lot less likely to screw up, and the parts are less likely to suck.

That’s not to say they're perfect though. I once waited 3 months with a vehicle torn apart on one of my lifts waiting for an engine. Thanks for that parts department. I feel your pain.

I’ve given up on most parts stores. The trouble is, I’m not sure the websites I use are any better.

My car has been on jack stands more than driveable since October. That was mostly for a complete brake system upgrade. There are 5 or 6 containers of ' used’ brake fluid from many changes of calipers and master cylinders.

Now I’m waiting for camber plates I ordered almost two weeks ago.
