I’m actually halfway shopping an S213 right now. Not quite as loaded as your tester (decent spec with drivers assist, parking assist, widescreen, pano, lighting, etc. but oddly with tex, which is fine with me), and not that color (diamond white on brown), but I am still taken by it. My initial lowball was rebuffed, I hope it sits around awhile. My co-workers caught wind of this and gave me shit about it being a “soccer mom car”, not realizing that soccer moms now drive large SUVs, which are dual fuel vehicles powered by gasoline and estrogen.  They want me to get a G-Wagen.

I have yet to see a new GLE in the flesh. They’ll sell ‘em all.

Why do so many Mercedes not have fog lights?

When you get rich enough, the fog just parts ways for you.

Nice! New or CPO S213? Which engine ( can’t recall if they’re all TTV6?)

I get the impression that the wagons move quickly around me - the used   pricing seems to carry a fair premium at any rate.

Good luck!

If it happens, it will be a regular E450 (TTV6) - AMG is too rich for my blood. There is a much different supply and demand situation for wagons vs sedans -these things lease poorly, so I am trying to frame a deal to partly compensate for it, as the basic numbers have it cheaper to buy than lease, and I don’t know if I want that kind of commitment . The one I have been eyeing is an odd enough spec to where it might not move fast (not a “sport” package, which I think hurts it to the fake sporty set), but I will only move if the deal is right.   It has been quite hard finding a properly equipped non-AMG sedan, and my term is up relatively soon.

Yeah, I figure that there’s definitely a pretty different market for the wagons. They always say that the Mercedes that has the wealthiest owner on average is the E class wagon - not any of the much more expensive models. Dunno if that’s still true with some of their more recent lineup additions, but it’s telling nonetheless.

I’m surprised that they don’t lease well - but maybe that’s because Mercedes just sticks with their niche market on these and doesn’t offer inflated residuals to move volume? Plus, my perception has always been that wagon customers are buyers who keep the car a long time.

Hope it works out for you!

I think that’s exactly it, they sell to legit wealthy customers, not bargain hunters like me , and people keep them - leasers don’t usually want them. From what I recall, wagon leases have roughly the same residuals as sedans, but a higher MF/interest rate - double that of 4cyl cars.

If I was to buy one, I would want the spec to be perfect. A local car I have spotted is close, but to make up for it, I want it well under MSRP - maybe 15% if I was to buy it. I’d actually consider it at that price, as I have had a hard time finding the right sedan, and it would prevent me from buying something insane like a used G-Wagen.
