For $25,000, a Ghibli S Q4 offers over 420 hp, great sound, and AWD in a reasonably weighted package. The Chysler parts means you dont need to deal with sticky/flakey buttons as the soft touch coating disappears, an infotainment system that is actually usable as the cars age, and the car can sit for a week or two at a time without the battery draining.
A lot of poor points when new become strong points when old. The lack of safety tech and cameras on the early cars may be nice.

Scat Pack is the option, but yeah, it’s a Scat Daddy.

A friend of mine worked as a tech at a Ferrari/Maserati dealer until about a year ago. He said the Maseratis are all steaming piles of garbage. And this isn’t a guy to bash anything, at all, especially if it’s “nicer” than anything he owns or could afford.

Oooh that looks like an interesting pick. What powertrain is in that?

Man, those things didn’t hold value at all. It is a fun car to drive. I drove one in a test drive. I really liked it.

Yeah, I really like these. I don’t care about all the smack people talk about them. Still,

I wouldn’t take a Ghibli if it was given to me. All badge and no substance.
Any of the others are way better choices. The Stinger is way more handsome, the Charger makes magnificent noises, and the SS has quality chassis dynamics and an LS3.

Just spent a week in California with a Charger R/T. N
oises it certainly does make, though I was surprised how little headroom it had (b/c sunroof).

Have you been in one? I think I’d rather have a mazda.

Thank you for saying Scat Daddy. I will not refer to them as that, love it haha

The Ghibli and maseratis in general are complete shit. Like communist levels of quality control problems. My brother did aftersales for them, and said he wouldn’t take one if it was given to him. I’m talking entire headliners falling down in quattroportes , tailgates falling off levantes, trim pieces breaking off ...all on brand new unsold cars. No thank you, pick literally anything else .

I’ve never had that problem, but I always put the seat all the way down.

To each his own but wife and I rented an ‘18 Ghibli SQ4 in Tampa last week and it r eally impressed. As a former Por sche, Jaguar, Alfa Romeo, Audi, BMW & MBenz owner, the 424hp and even more torque made me appreciate the variable AWD.
- Lovely engine note from the Chrysler block assembled in Maranello.
-8s peed ZF tran with manual mode was super fun on the way to Sebring Race.
-Quiet, comfortable, quick and yes everyone stared (even at the Polo Match) as it is still a rather rare car. Parked next to a Giulia QF at UTC and there was simply no contest in style.
I drive a 300hp Mustang and found that 424hp is now my new minimum standard.
Would L ease one at $795/mo on a year old dealer lot leftover but I’m clearly not rich enough to fix a ‘14/’15 out of warranty. LOL!

If it will fit in your garage, it’s a whole lot of fun. I bet if you drive it moderately, it will give you decent operating cost. It’s 10k less than a Type R, Why not?

Late model Maseratis aren’t too horrible and certainly not any order of magnitude worse than a German car to maintain.
Sure, the interiors aren’t that great and it’s not as roomy or well-built
as an E-class,
but when you roll down the windows and wring it to redline, who wins?

Yeah, would agree. I’ve heard the Ghibli is a money pit. Radiators are bad on them, brake job is ridiculously expensive, oil changes are expensive. I know people who have had complete engine failure. I f you’re looking for something in that price range you definitely want to consider maintenance costs.
Side note on the Challenger, I’d definitely check the transmission history. I was ready to walk out the door in a brand new Challenge R/T and the last test drive I did, the transmissions lunged from 3rd to 5th as I was slowing down and stalled. No interest in Dodge transmissions.

I currently own a Ghibli for a year now (this April a 2014 with 28000 miles ) the car is fine. The issue is upkeep parts are not expensive if you are a garage freak like me, but getting a code scanner that allows you to update something as simple as resetting maintenance light is unavailable. Parts are not expensive but I have order them from over seas (scuderia.com). Having it serviced or buying parts at a Maserati dealership is insane. Example I needed a new fuel line they charged 1700 and it was a two hour job the part was less than 200 dollars. A brake job I was quoted 1500 for the front I did it for 250 and it took less than an hour. All in all I still love the engine (my last car was a vette before that an M5) and the styling will I get another, probably but like my ex wife says I’m a dumb ass.

Get a Stinger!
