It seems to be wearing a replica of Richard Petty’s very early racing livery. The car is likely built for racing in Europe as it still has side windows. The US racing scene has very silly way of removing windows from all possible race cars.

But there’s another interesting feature about the car. This confirms that it hasn’t been racing or even driving in the US.

Even though these two cars do look alike they are not the same 1959 model. The white stripe is trying to mimic a shape that doesn’t exist in the front fender of the car on the trailer. Petty’s car is a Plymouth. But the one on the trailer is Chrysler’s weird export model made in Canada. The car is a Plymouth from the firewall to the back but it has Desoto’s front end. It was sold as Desoto Diplomat and it was only available outside the US markets. There’s also a similarly done Dodge Kingsway.

I have seen some of these export models in Finland but never a hardtop coupe. That thing is a very rare car. Here’s another example that is even more rare as it’s an RHD model.
