I love automatics but I don’t always wear a watch so my Tissot and Patek Fauxlippe are frequently stopped and I don’t necessarily want to wind them up in the morning when I’m running off to work.
I finally replaced the battery on my Timex - I don’t remember how long I’ve had this watch but it was a birthday gift from my dad which I got several years ago . Indigo stopped working years ago as well but it turns out that it was the battery. I guess Indiglo stops working long, long before the quartz movement actually stops; I actually thought the backlight was broken.
Not sure what happened to the metal strap that I had for it but I personally prefer leather/nylon for a watch strap. Consequently, I’ve ordered a new set of NATO straps from Amazon which I should receive tomorrow. I will provide an update for my fellow Oppo watch enthusiasts.
Also, it turns out these pop-off case backs are much, much more difficult to put back on than they are to take off. I channeled my inner Clarkson and used my trusty hammer to get it back on (but probably not in the way you’re thinking ).

Thats a great color combo with face and strap!

Yeah the bright strap contrasts well with the black face, and the white markers have a chromed edge to them which makes the watch really easy to read (and now in all conditions thanks to the working backlight).
I got a set of four straps which are striped; I thought they all looked cool but I bought it mainly because there’s one that has the Williams Martini Racing colours. They didn’t make good cars but they made a good racing livery.

If I get a lot more watches, maybe. The hammer worked surprisingly well!
This was also the first time in my life that I changed a watch battery. I’m batting 1.000 so I’ll stick with my strengths.

I also just realized that I forgot to set the date.

Yes but, if you plan to live a long time and change a lot of batteries this is one tool that pays itself back in spades. One bus ted crystal or a back that just won’t go on which I have had several means this is $13 well spent....

Man, I could have used this for my mom’s Fossil! Case back did NOT want to go back on. All of mine a screw backs, way easier.

If you change your own batteries, its the best $13 you ever spent.

Not sure how long I’ll live but I get your point. $13 would be much cheaper than a new crystal or a new watch altogether.
Only issue that remains, then, is the fact that I live in Canada and I don’t think we have Harbor Freight here, and that item is for in-store purchase only. Looks like the closest one to me is in Potsdam, NY.
I’ll have to keep an eye open for one of these, especially since I would like to get some more quartz watches.

They are worth it. My wife’s newest watch has a curved crystal and the back would not go on. That was when I was out the door to a place who replaces batteries that has one of these when I decided to look on the web and found that Harbor Freight has the same press that my place uses. It took seconds to install the back with the press and its selectable dies.
