I still haven’t finished Breath of the Wild and it was the first game I bought. I could just go to Ganon at this point but I need to finish it eventually.

This console does have a lot of Wii U remasters, and MK8 Deluxe is the only one I’ve bought. If you haven’t played it, Hyrule Warriors is a fun hack n’ slash kind of game with heroes demolishing huge mobs of enemies along with epic boss fights; Super Mario Odyssey is a great open-world(ish) 3D Mario game; Mario Party is fun if you frequently play with family/friends on the same TV.

Despite having the newest Nintendo system, don’t forget you have access to a limited (but expanding) library of NES games available as well if you have a Nintendo online subscription (which is also a relatively small cost).

Just watch out for the eShop games, there are a lot of mediocre games and strange ports there, so research those games on Youtube to get a feel for the gameplay.

Mario Tennis Aces is fun if you have played the Nintendo tennis games before.

Honestly, my favourite Switch game is a game they originally released nearly 5 years ago for the Wii U, and it’s Mario Kart 8; it’s MK8 Deluxe on the Switch since it includes what was originally DLC on the Wii U version. I believe there are some small changes made between the Wii U and Switch versions but it’s such an excellent game and combines my love of ultimate laptimes and fun gameplay.

If you haven’t played it before - get stardew valley off the e-shop. It is an amazing game, but it will devour your life. Especially when it’s so easy to be playing anywhere - on the can, in the kitchen, or in your bed when you should be sleeping but are instead furiously trying to prepare your farm before the next spring hits and no I am not at all doing this right now why do you ask?

I love my Switch so much. This reminds me that I need to stop trying to 100% Zelda and get some new games. Anyway, Odyssey and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe are must haves. For something a little different, I’m really enjoying Snipperclips that I got as a Christmas gift. The other games I have fall somewhere in the middle. But yeah the biggest problem I’ve had with the Switch is that there is so much content in Zelda that I’ve spent so much time playing it I’ve probably missed out on some other great titles.

Oh also if you are playing it docked on a TV at all , look out for sales on Joy-Cons - they don’t happen too often - and snag another pair if you can . Getting a second pair is great. I have two pairs and playing 4 player Mario Kart is great, but keeping one pair on the console so I can just grab it from the dock and go or swap them when batteries are low is fantastic.

I got one in January and love mine. If you are fan of older games the switch online service is good buy for 20 bucks. Right know it’s only NES games but they seem to be working to some Super Nintendo stuff in the future. Also is you haven’t played it before definitely think about Horizon Chase Turbo. It’s a blast to play arcade racer.

My girlfriend and I bought one so we could play Let’s Go Eevee. It’s pretty fun. I’m not too much of a gamer, but I play pokemon go. I also just got back into oldschool Runescape on the mobile platform. RIP free time.

The Switch was my first Nintendo purchase since the N64 and I’m really enjoying it so far. As for recommendations...

One of my early favorites was Golf Story, and I don’t even care for golf IRL. It plays like most other golf games, but also brings a humorous plot, puzzles, a semi-open “world”, and RPG-like elements to the table to keep the game interesting throughout.

Having been away from the Nintendo consoles for so long, Mario Odyssey surprised me in how good it was. It rewards exploration better than anything I’ve played in recent memory, so just wandering around and interacting with everything you can even after you “beat” each area is genuinely fun.

I’m sure it’s already been mentioned, but Stardew Valley is also a great (though potentially addictive) pick. There’s a surprising amount of depth and freedom to this one that can keep you playing for quite a while. If you like management/building type games or have played a Harvest Moon game previously, you’ll feel right at home with this one.
