If that ding was higher or lower, a PDR guy would get that out 100%. However, due to that hard crease, a good PDR guy may get it about 90% out.
I suggest you check your local Yelp for good Painless Ding Repair people and get a quote.

Well, time for someone to die, at least in your hopes
. Is it an exceptionally windy day or did someone push it there with their car?

Yep, that’d be my first bet too. However, t he paint on the lower part of the crease is cracked and flaking off . Not cool.

Oh, that sucks many, sorry to have that happen to your car.

Yes, it is windy today. Gusts up to 29mph from the west. I am hoping someone or something got it on camera at the store.

I don’t know how likely a lawsuit against the store would be to succeed, but keep in mind that those “Not responsible for damage...” signs have no legal force. They are responsible for taking reasonable measure to protect your property. Probably if they have cart returns and do a reasonable job cleaning up stray carts they are fine, but if they just let carts sit everywhere on windy days, you might have a case. Consult a local lawyer to find out what your chances might be if you are interested in going that way.

That’s awful! Reminds me of something similar that happened to my dad’s old ‘04 Acura TL. He bought it brand new and babied that thing. One day he was out shopping, and h e parked at the bottom of a lot on a hill to park away from other people. It was also a really windy day, and the wind blew a cart all the way down the hill and straight into the TL’s rear quarter panel.
It left a dent that was the height of the entire basket of the cart, and it ended up being over $2,000 worth of damage. Hopefully this one can be repaired for much less!

That sounds like a similar situation to mine.
I am now looking into a salvage yard replacement door. Luckily, this is a popular car.
