How we all doing? I’m currently training someone, and were at the “you do everything without me and then I’ll critique the hell out of your work after” stage, so I’ve got a lot of free time at this project. So in addition to saying hi, I will also post the house across the street, here on Bainbridge Island.
This is actually a coworker’s account, not one of mine. So any praise or criticism will be deflected, but your colorful observations are welcome nonetheless

My observations aren't colorful. But neither is this house.

I actually like the home. $27.5k final offer.

Whoever designed that interior is not a fan of color saturation. Beige for days...

It’s grey and wet in Toronto since everything is melting/it’s been raining. But at least there’s an Oppo Meet tonight and I’m off to Bobcaygeon tomorrow.
That house looks... bland. Nice, but bland.

Inoffensive, sterile sells.

Broad appeal = more potential buyers, this is why I could never be an interior designer for new construction.

Clean, simple, modern design; perfect blank slate for someone who likes decorating. Standing alone looks dull but furnishing and decoration makes all the difference, and plus it looks up to date in terms of appliance and stuff. A lot of space, pretty open concept too. As for the exterior it’s again a clean and simple modern design again that with landscaping (bushes, flowers, etc.) could look pretty nice. Thank you for coming to my TED talk

I don’t like the outside at all, but the inside looks like a pretty nice place to be. That’s one hell of a laundry room (though with all that space I’d say go with an even bigger sink.) Don’t like the overhang on the kitchen counter, which I assume is to allow the installation of many terrible bar stools.

ooooh so close. you're gonna need about $1,072,500 more dollars "starting"

I have a 60" shower and am on the fence on a slider vs a swinging door. A slider may make more sense in this case. I see in the small shower that the door is going to be difficult to open and not stand on the toilet at the same time.
Overall the house looks pretty good if a bit dull, needs lots of animal hide furniture and colorful accents from Pier One.

Because PNW madness, this is probably the mid tier... even lower end... of new construction. If your town connects to Seattle: $$$$

Stacked bond tile layouts were ass , are ass, and always will be ass.

Looks fine to me. A few nits I could pick, but I won’t.

I love the laundry room.
That is all

Ass tile would be nice to look at if I was allowed to select the muse prior to installation.

Yes, that doesn’t look too bad.

My thoughts:
“Wow, that’s an... interesting kitchen.”
“Okay, I guess the master bathroom needed to be twice as big as the kitchen??”
“What an absolute nightmare to ever clean that massive bathroom”
“Who needs so much bedroom with that kitchen?”
“A second, actual kitchen?!”
“Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ”

My wife would murder somebody for that kitchen.

Oh joy! you get to take the blame credit for somebody else’s work.
All that nice clear sheet glass looks nice at first, but you have to keep it clean. I’m more a fan of frosted or textured shower glass.

I’m in the “the interior is fine but I don’t like the exterior” camp. Too many different styles of siding right next to each other for me. I’m not a fan of that much white in the kitchen/baths either but I know that’s what sells so I can’t blame them for doing it. LOVE the shower but I’d think at that price point there would be body sprays .

As I am, but it's tremendously more expensive to fabricate and temper — so I’ve heard.

Why is that bath tub so small and why does everything look like a Vegas hotel room from 2008? (Really like that banister/ railing though)

I don’t like the front of this building. horizontal a nd vertical cladding, along with stone work.
The kitchen island is at least a foot too deep.
The utility room cupboard doors are too thin and repetitive and make the room feel taller and narrower than it is.

The faux farmhouse can’t die off fast enough, already hate this as much as the faux Tuscan or faux craftsman. It and the mcmodern are the new darlings .

Had not one, but two interviews today. At some coffee shop killing time, the heading down Toronto to hopefully not get murdered by CB. Also put gas in Juke for the 1st time in 3 weeks.

Wowza. Is Bainbridge a ritzy place? My car came from there but I met the guy in Tacoma to buy it. We paid less than half that for our house 10 mins from downtown PDX (built in the 1990s ) , Seattle truly is insane with housing costs. One of the biggest reasons we didn’t end up moving there (which I’m sure many in Seattle appreciate).

No idea, but I thought it was a good example of how badly a tile install can go, especially in this pattern . Looks like they didn’t use spacers.
![]() 03/15/2019 at 17:41 |

I think both the laundry room and master bath have more counter space than my kitchen.

Honestly, I’ve seen better public toilet areas and cheap kebab shop kitchen tiles better than that.

I’m just amazed how bland sells. I’ve turned down houses when i was hunting because there was too much white and gray. I NEED COLOR IN MY LIFE.

Lucky you! Im in the “No one knows anything about what has been happening with this network for the last 10 years and more importantly I only have access to half of it because no-one knows the passwords or where they are stored”. Screw it, Im going to just put together a proposal to start over, n early clean slate and im going to do it the correct way. If they protest I’ll just tell remind them that they hired me to fix it and this is what its going to take.

This is a great example of why I NEVER use contrasting grout. It highlights all of your faults, and I’m by no means a pro tile installer.

I’m procrastinating a bit data analysis final project. I hate this class so very much and it’s almost over, but I’m having to dig really deep to find motivation...
That kitchen is delightful, as is the atrium/patio thingy... the rest is pretty standard McMansion.
