This just came out this morning from The Atlantic and I think summarizes the issues pretty well. Buffer image because that’s how we roll around here.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I don’t support the guy for saying stupid and offensive stuff to get attention...but I also think some “media watchdogs” are really grasping at straws lately . Either way, the modern media machine gives you an audience and a voice, then gives you a shovel to dig your own grave. I can’t imagine that anyone today would actually aspire to go into TV reporting or politics at all...

Except the guy repeatedly and constantly still spouts racist, hate-filled, terroristic diatribes. On TV. So no. They aren’t. The guy is an unrepentant piece of shit who deserves to be publicly executed - just like he constantly calls for non-whites to be.

100% read that as “Butter Solution” and was very confused why one was blue and one was pink. The middle one gets a pass.

As with the Kavanaugh thing, and the Northam thing, and all of these things where they dig up transgressions of the past, I think it’s important to look at how those people carried themselves since then. If there is no pattern of abuse, then perhaps those people amended of their wayward ways of youth.
As for Tucker Carlson, he is no different now than when he made those deplorable comments. He decries this as a hit job, but a hit job is when you use unsubstantiated reports, anonymous sources, or other unverifiable facts to make somebody look bad . Here, MM is using Carlson’s own words. He said these things, and not all that long ago, either. As for his record since then, h e remains an elitist, racist, mysoginistic scumbag to this day, so I’m not willing to give him any quarter.
As for his blustering about a hit job , t he lady doth protest too much, methinks.

I agree, except every 10th thing he writes seems very reasonable and balanced. So there is a brain (and maybe even a heart) in there somewhere.
I guess that’s why we never notice — we have a mold for him and we encourage him to fit into at all times. That’s not good for anyone involved except the advertisers.

No, there isn’t. He holds his nose and writes that shit to play suckers like you into believing he has some shred of decency. And clearly it works.
I know how the fucking system works with that. I’ve had to hold my nose and write shit that simply isn’t true.
This is WHO HE IS. He’s a terrorist. He’s always been a terrorist. He will always be a terrorist.

Did you read the article? I’m not chasing you down this rabbit hole, I just found it interesting.

I’d also add that the reaction to the accusation should be important too. A simple admittance, apology, and quick mention that it is all in the past is all that is needed here.
“Yeah that was me, and I apologize for those actions . Since then, I ’ve grown as a person and have changed my ways. ”
If one of those “Accused in hindsight” people released a statement to that effect (and were an otherwise decent public person), the controversy c ould be dead on the spot. Everyone has done something they regret, everyone knows acceptable actions change as culture changes, and most often these accusations are just trying to out public personalities as being currently horrible people. A sincere apology goes a long way to negating the desired outcome.

This is precisely what Northam should have done. Instead, he hesitated, he obfuscated, he changed his story. Harley Quinn said it best: “Own that shit. Own it. ” As I tell my boys over and over, everybody makes mistakes, but your character is measured on how you handle those mistakes. Own it, learn from it, move on.

I don't watch him, so I can't argue the racism sexism ect. Hoeever, I saw how he completely lost his shit on that socialist guy, and I don't respect him. Clearly he isnt calmnor intelligent enough to properly host a political talk show. We don't need an embarrassment, we need someone like ben shapiro that could have ripped that guy a new asshole.
