!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Fits the Tundra perfectly, and because I don’t drive it often, it always ices over. My heater only works when the truck is not idling, so getting rid of ice is a huge pain the in the rear.

There is a magnet running along the bottom edge, so it stays attached to the hood.

I used to just put a pieces of thin plywood over my windshield but that looks like it would be friendlier to the car.

I like the Prado.
Can’t say I’d ever use the blanket.. I’ve never had a problem with the $2 scraper.

For $15, hard to complain. I just need to remember to use it more often.

Beach towel works great too

I never had a problem with a scraper either, but it’s 5 min of scraping or 15 seconds of removing the cover, for a perfectly dry windshield .

My mother-in-law got a pair of these (well, different brand but same thing) for my wife and I, and I love them.

What happens if it gets wet, and then freezes?

One of my neighbors (or their kid) uses something like that but I’ve seen him have issues peeling it off in the morning when wet snow has frozen overnight.

What happens if it gets wet, and then freezes?
This, right here. We actually get freezing rain more often than heavy snow. Then the entire car is a sheet of ice.

I can see it would be sweet for a few inches of fresh snow right before you leave for work.. Conditions are perfect. But 90% of the time it’s going to add more work than a brush.
T
he wiper flip crowd would love it..

My local Aldi has a similar windshield cover for $5. (That’s a mark-down price.) I actually got to use it once and can say its fine. For living in the South where this thing is rarely needed, $5 is the “what the hell?” price for me.

You just remove it from the windshield as it should be dry, right?

This one for $15 gets a silver side and it is great for preventing sun damage as well.
Which makes me realized I’ve been using it wrong. I though it was black side for snow and silver for sun - I guess it is silver side for both.

We’re talking about the entire thing including the “mount points” being frozen in a sheet of ice. That’s what freezing rain does.

I’ve got a remote starter and a brush.
And I have to remove snow from the rest of the car anyways....

Well, a towel is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have.

I guess what we get in CO is perfect for it. It has performed flawlessly. Truck is parked facing north so it takes forever for it to defrost on its own.

I have to admit I have a heated garage. So I don’t have to stoop to this level of peasantry unless I’m parked at the ski resort all day and it’s snowing.

This is the last winter of this. We have a 2 car garage and three cars, but the new house is being built with a 4 car garage and 8ft doors, so the Tundra will have a new, warm home for the next winter.

think it will work:
Here’s where the car is parked
![]() 03/12/2019 at 20:09 |

Well, it’ll work in a sense that the windshield won’t be frozen under it once you dig out the car :)

I had no such issues. I had ice stick to the cover, but I had no issues removing the cover from the truck. Apparently, we’re about to be hit with a MOAB (mother of all blizzards), I’ll see how well it works sometime on Thursday or Friday.

Turn car on, scrape windshield, bam, engine is now warm enough to drive. Plus, even with this, there are like 5 more windows to clear off.
An y tips for ice INSIDE the car? I hate that.

But what about the rest of your snow removal? The windshield is only a small part of what needs to be cleared. Granted the most important part, but still a small part.

My trucks heat doesn’t work on idle. I like the idea of not scraping the windshield.

Pick up truck with a topper, so I only have two more windows to work on - if they are still frozen. Also, side windows are way easier to scrape than the windshield.
