Hi, My Name Is: Deltyn

It seems oppo is a far less formal place than I initially thought. This won’t stop me from making a formal introduction. My name is Deltyn Miller. I’m helping raise a great little boy, I like good food, and I love to hate Nicholas Cage, but that’s obviously not why I’m here. What brings me to oppo is my passion for all things vehicular. Like many of you, I’ve loved cars, trucks, and motorcycles for as long as I can remember.

I grew up in the middle of 2 seater sports cars and on the back of motorcycles when children with sane parents were nestled safely in their car seats. When I was 19, I decided I wanted to work on cars for a living, and so I’ve been a full-time automotive technician for the past 11 years. Currently, I work under the wing of one of the biggest OEMs in the world, and most recently, I’ve decided to turn some of my passion into written word.

My collection of wheeled machines is eclectic, and I always have a project going. My driveway is currently home to 2 Fiat X1-9s, a hea vily modified 1994 Infiniti G20, a 2010 Toyota Corolla turned show car, and an early example from one of the most exotic motorcycle companies in the world.

My automotive tastes usually lay in the fringes of popular opinion, and I’m ok with that. I know what I like, and I generally understand why. I’m not here to defend my projects, or to convert you all into G20 lovers. what I would like is to open a window into my garage and share the endevors and adventures that these mechanical pains in my ass provide.

This isn’t my first automotive forum. I’ve done a couple of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! on vehicle specific websites, but this is the broadest demographic I’ve ever tried to appeal to. Over the past 3 weeks I’ve lurked, commented, and written 2 !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Having just figured out how this Kinja mess works, I plan to stick around for a while. I also hope to meet lots of new friends, so feel free to reach out, comment, and disagree with anything I post.

While the writing on Oppo isn’t very formal, the rules do stipulate that you must be wearing, at minimum, a dinner jacket when making a post. Full suit and tie is preferred of course.

Well, we’re an eclectic bunch here, and you’ll find a broad range of enthusiasm and taste, perfect for those with eclectic vehicular collections (the more x1/9s the better!) . Welcome, and we do love a good garage bitch-fest from time to time. Though, as you noted we are quite inf ormal and won’t bark at you for pictures of broken bolts with one word comments, and we expect you to put up with my sheep posts ;)

Formality ? Well, the mentioned dinner-jacket-authorship rule applies however there’s no limits to how often you can fart while wearing it. And the jacket can be leather with patches. My dinner jacket happens to have a hood attached, and I think a stain from this mornings cinnamon roll on the front.

We ran out of 2% a day or two ago because SOMEONE decided to make 5 bowls of oatmeal (looking at you, Maxima Speed) so just steal a bit of Party-vi's *shudders* skim milk.... double the amount so he gets his nutrients, we can't have him dying on us now though I'm sure he has a reanimation spell up his sleeve

First, welcome to Oppo! Second, I just finished scannning your article from earlier this month about the cars in the swamp and I have a couple of questions. I live in Mississippi and was wondering where about this place is? It looks like it would be a pretty cool place to stop over and have a look, especially since I am actually moving to the MS coast in about a month. Do you actually live in MS too or were you just in the area? I know of only 2 people on Oppo (including myself) who currently live in MS.

Eclectic is what Oppo is all about... I’ve got a ‘57 Studebaker, a Chevy Suburban, a VW GLI, a ‘63 Galaxie, an ‘07 Miata and a ‘97 Cherokee. I’m all over the map.

Welcome friend! We’re an eclectic and usually fair welcoming group here... you like what you like and we mostly all understand our passions for whatever tickles our fancies!

I LOVE me some FIATs, especially the small FIAT (especially air-cooled 126s and classic 500s!) variety, so more posts on the X1/9s are needed! I also like weird Eastern Bloc stuff and basic economy hatchbacks with no options (Mitsu Mirage, Hyundai Accent, etc), so if I can fit in here so can you! :P

Ive known for years that he Aztek was ahead of its time. Look at the styling of the Juke, new Cherokee, hyundai Kona. Ugly always looks good on SUVs. Just not in yellow.

It wasn’t a dig against FWD, it was a dig against FWD Corollas... I daily a FWD VW...

I had a ‘99 Corolla  with a 5-speed. It was a fantastic car, bone stock and boring as white bread. Yours looks interesting.

Welcome aboard. Things are a lot less formal around here than some would have you believe, but please do read the Rules of the Road (scroll up to find them). Most people prefer to be anonymous, but if you want to let it all hang out there (metaphorically speaking), then by all means, feel free.

We are an eclectic bunch and as such, we are protective of our own. Be nice and you’ll fit in just fine! You’re going to have to put up with cars, motorcycles, planes, a bunch of dogs, a few cats, a space crab and his chandeliers, a few personal/work problems, and plenty of weirdness. It’s tons of fun!

First off, thanks for the Welcome. I have already read the forum rules, and plan to abide. I can’t say that I understand the desire to remain anonymous on an automotive forum, and I’m confident enough to put myself right out there. Cars, planes, and motorcycles are why I’m here, and as much as I love dogs, I’ll probably just avoid everyone’s personal issues. I likely will come off as an ass hole sometimes, but never as a personal attack or to be malicious.   I do look forward to lots of weird automobil lia from all of you though .
