Mercedes sent this to me for the week to review. Surely you people have questions about it, other cars I’ve tested, or anything in general.

how many blobs can it fit

These are just hitting the road around here, good score, very few around right now. Full widescreen with MBUX?

Dude, that’s a Kia Sorento, not a Mercedes.
![]() 03/07/2019 at 16:35 |

It’s got everything down to the air freshener except a heated steering wheel.
![]() 03/07/2019 at 16:35 |
|
It is a bit... yawn with those wheels.
![]() 03/07/2019 at 16:37 |
|
Oh, right, better wheels would fix that.
*rolls eyes*
![]() 03/07/2019 at 16:38 |

It’s bad when an E quinox looks more interesting.
I guess I like the color...
What’s the price?

WHY DOESN’T IT HAVE A
MULTI-TORQUE-
RATIO MECHANICAL 4MATIC SYSTEM LIKE THE FIRST GEN ON THE W124
okay, that’s not a realistic or real question.
![]() 03/07/2019 at 16:39 |

The last body style looked way better but bigger wheels a more aggro is definitely better.

Takes a big ole toke off a crack pipe....
$77,000+ as shown. It is nearly fully loaded but *takes another big ole toke” yeah...

Is that one from the same gen as yours? It looks different - beyond the wheels.
Maybe it’s the sea of charcoal grey, and the cheap black plastic cladding on yours, but that one really does look down market to me.

Here’s a camo of the 2020.

Even HUD? Nice. You’ll roll up in style to either the local pilates/botox clinic or lululemon gallery.
![]() 03/07/2019 at 16:48 |

Hud is there. Unlike the E450 wagon, the rear passengers got heated seats as well.
The lululemon actually came standard in a co-branded lulu/MB bag in the passengers seat. Everyone should know how that my butt does in fact look fantastic in lululemon.

For that MSRP, it ought to be nice, yikes.
Good to see MB understands the demo graphic.
![]() 03/07/2019 at 16:57 |

Both MBs I have gotten when I saw the MSRP I went full yikes. Both seemed like 60k was a better spot for them. No t 88 and 77k. The technology gets them past that but point still stands. Buy used Benz.
![]() 03/07/2019 at 16:59 |
|
Maybe it is the wheels/color on yours - it looks slab sided and bland.
I’m sure it’s a hell of a lot nicer inside - MB has been kicking ass on interiors for a while now (at least on the C-class and upward).
![]() 03/07/2019 at 16:59 |

I have doubts many buy them new. Lease new, buy used - CPO lease return etc . The first few years of depreciation are brutal.

Yeah, very true. All the knick knacks are really nice on the Benz, but the sure granite feeling of the LX570 showed me what $100k feels like and its another level. I’ve been told I may be getting a E63 AMG which will just be a faster E450 but I know I am eventually getting a G Wagon so that’ll be interesting.
![]() 03/07/2019 at 17:04 |

The interior on this is not designo but is verrry pretty. This pic seems to be another persons review of the exact same car lol. The E450 was straight gorgous. I do like the brown and lighter wood in this though.
All the silver parts around the handle and across the dash are LED ambient light.

The German option pricing scheme puts things on another level - a 90K E is a 60K car with lots of toys, where a 100K LX is a 90K car with nicer finishes.
G will be fun. I test drove a 2016 a couple weeks ago, I’ve always had a slight itch for one. It wasn’t as bad as I imagined, but still a real truck. The running costs are hard to justify though, not to mention the purchase price.

I think the best way to put it was this:
The LX570 is expensive because they built a castle. It has luxury touches but it will last forever and is overbuilt in every way.
The Mercedes are Smart Homes. Not built as heavy and over the top, but they have every toy you could want .
![]() 03/07/2019 at 17:14 |
|
That works. Cars in general fit into that smart homes thing, while the G will be another castle. I’ll await that review, should be a fun one. I’ve still only seen one new style G on the road.
If I was choosing a SUV, it would be a G or an LX. Both have pros and cons, not sure if I can stand the Toyota ICE though.

The LX is a monster i fell in love with haha. I want one in so many ways but Costco gas becomes your best friend. The mouse is a PITA but its a touchscreen in the J200 LC if that helps.

Yah,
that’s
gorgeous

and
I
like
MB-Tex
just
fine,
especially
in
brown.

This car already has 8000+ press miles on it too and seems pretty kept together still.
![]() 03/07/2019 at 17:30 |

MB-Tex is sturdy as hel l, and Mercedes generally uses quality materials.
![]() 03/07/2019 at 17:54 |

Someone as OCD as me can’t deal with fingerprints. I’d be cleaning the screen daily, or more. I’m probably too used to the MB wheel and menu interface, and the screens were higher definition than others at least in the past.
Ne arest Costco to me is 5 miles away, I am sure I’d be visiting it often in a G.
![]() 03/07/2019 at 17:58 |

The 8 speed in the LX actually does help a lot I will say
![]() 03/07/2019 at 18:10 |

They aren’t all that way. We just got two demos in at our dealer, a 350 and 450. The 450 I drove was 64k with all the important stuff I would want and is a decent bit faster than my Z3 lol. They come standard with basically everything you need: carplay, collision prevention assist, navigation, heated seats, plus that big ass touch screen and voice assistant.
You aren’t wrong when you say 60k is a better spot and thats where most of the ones that actually hit dealer floors will have. Press cars are always loaded up obnoxiously
The 100k suv is the GLS550, and that thing in terms of how it feels driving blows every other big suv I’ve driven out of the water.

New G wagon no longer feels like a truck. It feels like a modern sports SUV now when you drive it.
The old ones would hustle and handle pretty well, but it was the type of thing you had to be able to trust more than feel because the handling gave no feedback whatsoever and felt wonky as well. I’d take either as the perfect rainy day car if I was rich.
Its the exact type of car I’d want to be in when I’m tired of driving the clownshoe. Similar love it or hate it styling, but in a big burbly square V8 package

oof. I’m not a CUV kind of guy, and could probably come up with a full 3- car garage of different vehicles for that things total price.
![]() 03/07/2019 at 18:59 |

Too bad about the price - lottery winner car for me right now. I can almost sneak into a 2013+ model, but they really fell trucky - kind of loose, I noticed it a lot even coming from my less than sporty E Bluetec. The interior in the new one looks amazing, too.

The general consensus is it doesn’t look like $77k even though the interior does. Last gen looked better
