Kia made the best looking affordable family sedan on the market. I’m not one for gray cars but that color with those wheels looks fantastic, and it was one of very few cars that actually looks good in white.
Why did they have to go and ruin it with the current gen?

The Mazda6 would like a word.

2014/15 was the best. The h ybrid is a great looking fuel sipper for under $9,000 if you need a car for sitting in traffic.

My dad has a 14 in red, he was sold on it almost by looks alone (although value and reliability were big factors)

I was going to say you posted the wrong KIA for best looking affordable family sedan...but the affordable part kind of knocks out the Stinger. (th ough it is affordable for what it’s target competition is)

The fenders are lumpy and the grille is way too big

Am ong the normal $20-30k mid sizers that most marques offer, the Optima looks best.

I wouldn’t say they ruined it with the current gen, it’s pretty similar. However, it’s hard to beat the great look of the one above.

I dunno, the front end looks a bit insectile to me

Eh, to each his own.
FWIW - I do think the Optima is a looker too, just hard to top the 6 in the segment.

I don’t know why automakers keep doing that to the fenders, Nissan does the same thing.

Can’t deny that.

I’ve recently been contemplating a cheap commuter and have been shocked to see how cheap these can be had. Absolutely one of the best looking cars for the price right now – and the interior doesn’t feel like a penalty box either. Very tempting. It’ll probably depreciate more than some other alternatives but you’re getting a much nicer car to commute in as a result.
Any knowledge about reliability or known weak points?

I haven’t looked into them but I did have one as a rental once and was quite impressed.
I would look for a V6 if you’re going seriously consider one. The 4cyl says 190hp but it felt more like 150. Had to thrash it to merge.
