2019 specialized Epic Comp. It’s the least expensive version of this bike with the carbon frame, which is to say it still cost a few dollars. I have the seat set to my height of 85 cm, and this is an Extra large frame. I’ll probably do a wheel set and carbon bars by May it otherwise will leave it alone. Now I need the snow to start melting.

6’ 4” with ridiculous long legs. Hence why I will never be able to drive a Miata.

Sigh...every day should be a new bike day.

Which means I should strip the Siren Twinzer frame of all the things that make it a bike and go and get it painted.... something like VW Ultra Blue.

Nice bike. Can’t wait to ride mine again. Can’t be coming real soon, though.

Actually. In the next few weeks the lake will get thawed out and flat (no snow drifts) and then it re-freezes on colder nights but with an amazing texture, like a salt flat. I used to love taking my snowmobile out when it was like that, because - did I mention it was like a salt flat - full speed runs all day long! It’s also good for biking, and you can explore all over, just stay away from the shore. It’s a short window but it’s about 3 weeks before the trails are any good....

Nice! Is that a Pike fork?

Me too! Going to post it for real tomorrow though.

No it’s a 100 mm travel Reba. This is an XC  bike after all.

You should get a backpack with e water bladder it it.  I have one and love it.  I also have a spare tube and a patch kit along with some other random stuff

Right! I usually forget about the low travel stuff. And there’s been a lot of crazy hardtails coming out lately so I immediately thought of a bigger fork

I had a specialized  Fuse Expert and it had a 67 deg head tube angle with a 120 mm fork. The frame was so overbuilt that it ride like a 2x4. It was cool if you were in the mood but it abused me on longer rides.

I have two camel backs. When the rides get over two hours two bottles is not  enough.

Compact frame geometry looks a little silly to me with very tall riders; there is of course a guy who started a company to cater to the freakishly tall men of the modern world.

This used to be the stump jumper hard tail, but they changed the name to Epic hardtail and the stump jumper is now all dual suspension bikes. The original epics were all dual suspension with the inertial valve shock like yours. I kinda wanted the dual suspension Epic but price of entry was $4,200!!!

I traded a Demo9 frame and some monster T’s for a complete Epic comp about 5 years ago. Like all the other specialized bikes I have, I cannot find a single fault with it. I shudder at the thought of the cost of bikes nowdays. I thought the 5300 i spent on my devinci was high, but to replace any of the bikes I have now with their newer models, well I would need a second mortgage!
