I’ve always have had a soft spot for 6MT SH-AWD TL’s. Sure the previous third generation is the best looking TL, but this post mid cycle refresh example looks pretty sleek in my eyes. The powerful J-series V6 and slick six speed manual makes this sedan very desirable.
This 2013 example is showing three previous owners who only put on 51,000 miles. The asking price is $16,999. I feel as if these 6MT TL’s have been around this price for years.
Does Oppo think this is a decent price on a semi rare car?

Cheapest I’ve ever seen one, and less than I paid for my 6AT last year. So yes, good deal.

Looks like it’s in pretty good condition too!

Yeah, NP. I paid the same for my 3 and it was a little older than this.

Yep, and being a 2013 it has the updated propeller shaft bearing, so no annoying squeal. It’s mainly just a nuisance, but it’s $2000 to replace. My only complaint is the black interior. My old TSX had black leather and it was not fun in the summer. My TL’s is tan, and with the Advance package (which is 6AT only, and why I didn’t look for a manual) it has ventilators in the seats as well as heaters, so it’s much more comfortable.

Good to know. It would be hard to go to leather without ventilation, I usually prefer cloth. I’m a Honda guy at heart, had an Si before my GTI and would love to see how these drive.

I haven’t driven a manual one, just my automatic, but it’s criminally underrated. The manual has shorter gears than the 6AT which means quicker acceleration (6MT has a 0-60 time around 5.3 while the 6AT is about 5.8) but worse fuel mileage (not that the 6AT’s is great itself). Handles great, very neutral and can do things a car its size has no business doing. Very comfortable too, and a really good sound system.

I don’t know how you feel about the stereo system, but one of my complaints about Hondas and Acuras from this time is how the stereo head-unit and climate controls were integrated together. Once the head unit dies, you aren’t able to replace it with an aftermarket unit. Also, the bluetooth in these don’t like to pair with modern iPhones; if you’re using an iPhone 4 or 5 or a similar vintage Android phone, you’re good, but if you’ve got something newer, you’ll have to go with one of those Anker bluetooth modules.
Oh, and if you use the CD changer, good luck getting a CD out if one gets stuck in there. In 2017, my wife put a CD in her MDX’s stereo that’s been stuck ever since. It cycles through all of the trays, won’t play the disc, and it won’t eject it.

That would be a very negative aspect, especially after using modern infotainment systems. Hope it wasn’t a favorite CD!

Popping back into Oppo real quick, need advice here: https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inventorylisting/viewDetailsFilterViewInventoryListing.action?sourceContext=carGurusHomePageModel&newSearchFromOverviewPage=true&inventorySearchWidgetType=AUTO&entitySelectingHelper.selectedEntity=d19&entitySelectingHelper.selectedEntity2=&zip=34758&distance=200&searchChanged=true&modelChanged=false&filtersModified=true#listing=223659871 Good deal or not? Interesting interior color too. Also, how ba d of an idea is it to get one as a first car

I don t think you know what leaving means lol, if you want to stay, stay, don’t just comment and pretend like you’re not here

Not the best for a first car, but a good deal. Also weird color combo, which may have something to do with the price.

That's what I was thinking too. Supposedly clean title but although the interior looks nice it's....strange

Nah real shit though I’m writing my return post. Consists of my new mindset and medical discoveries, all while appropriately titled, “Of happenings”.

Yeah, that interior is called Umber and is rare. Honestly a TSX would be a better first car. Better fuel mileage and less power.

TSXs in good condition are hard to find here in central Florida, with a manual too. But if one ever turns up I’ll probably go take a look at it

The dealer can send the unit to have the CD removed. Also, the HVAC controls are usually on a separate panel, and the button panel is not fixed to the main unit behind it, it comes separate. And new iPhones pair just fine. Using an 8plus in a 2012 RDX tech.

The manual is pretty fun, been a while since I drove one. Only word of warning, it uses a Dual Mass flywheel, and it’s not cheap to replace, so be gentle with it.

I’m just going off personal experience on my wife’s 2007 MDX.
Your RDX is relatively new compared to her car.

It will still pair though. There was some issues that arose, but it was on newer cars than even mine. Usually though those issues are on the Mobile OS end, not the car.
Worth noting with any Honda/Acura Audio unit, they are all built by large OEMs (Alpine, Pioneer, Clari
on etc)
, and therefore can be set out for servicing instead of being “up shit’s creek”. The costs are also pretty reasonable too all things considered (n
ew replacement
units are upwards of 6 grand, versus $300-$400 for service depending on application and issue
).
