Landing at Chicago Midway, short runway, lots of brakes. Very smooth flight from OAK.

Hope you're vaccinated...

My wife and daughter took a connecting flight in Chicago just yesterday! New Orleans -> Chicago -> New York. They said things were fairly bumpy on the leg to Newark.

Get it down, get it stopped is what they’re focused on landing at MDW. Not enough room to play around. Airspace rules and obstacle clearance limit how you can approach some of the runways, too (mainly landing to the southwest).
Are you here a while or just passing through?

Better livery:
Even better livery:
Hi, Mrs. O.C.

I was gonna say I like the whale plane.

Now that you mention it, this might be one of the best:

That’s Shamu to you, buster!

I prefer the brown/bronze/whatever. I think the new one is better than the previous one though. The blue and the red always seemed to clash on that one to me.

I’ve seen this one at Seatac

I flew on this one once! I haven’t even seen the whale plane and I haven’t gotten a flight on the CA flag livery
, either

I guess I’m just not a fan of the trend towards the painted empennage. At least the older SW liveries kept the coloring along the rest of the fuselage underside. I think the previous livery (my first photo) does a nice job of accentuating the curvy lines of the 737 itself.

I love the name of that one - the Salmon Thirty Salmon.

You know they actually fly freshly caught alaskan salmon from alaska to Seattle
on those!

That has to be my favorite WN special scheme.
The Western Pacific Simpsons themed aircraft is high on that list of custom paint schemes as well. Heck, like cars, aircraft look great in yellow:

Agreed. At my local airport, with its overwhelming procession of plain white planes and blue Southwests, this Spirit was a breath of fresh air.

The curved lines of the 737 really help this fantastic livery.

Did I ever share this photo stream with you? It’s got some fantastic historical shots from MDW.

Since it’s sea world, the top fin should be folded over...

Yeah, the MD flag is pretty awesome to begin with, the livery just solidifies that.

It’s definitely a trend, and not always an improvement, but here I think less red is good. Also I like that it has the logo on the bottom. It’s always a little surprising to me how often airlines leave that blank given how many people are near airports and see planes from below at reasonable altitude.

Very cool, thanks! The shots from the 80s-00s bring back a lot of memories of all the defunct airlines that called Midway home.
It’s bustling now thanks to SWA , but it nearly died after Midway Airlines collapsed.

What the hell is that airplane doing?
Clearly a low pass, but it’s clean?

I did a little Internet digging, and the people at Sea World will tell you that the fin droop is normal. Bullshit. It’s because of the shitty diet they feed those animals. We used to take our kids there, and we enjoyed the shows. I’ve soured on it now.

I went back and looked, and all the caption says is, “Maryland One performs a fly-by at Dallas Love Field.” So maybe they were doing something in honor of rolling out the livery ? Certainly not an air show at DAL.
