The oldest is the ballpoint. It’s so old that it was made in West Germany.
Next was the fountain pen, which was a gift for getting into college. It needs to take a trip to the fountain pen hospital or manufacturer soon, because it’s a little clogged.
The third is a pencil, which was a graduating college/first job gift/fuck it, I’m buying a nearly $400 pencil gift.
These are almost always on my person 24/7, unless I travel, because I don’t travel with anything I’m not okay with getting stolen.
I’ve only lost them once, in a parking lot in the rain, after leaning over and having them fall out. Thankfully, I realized it within 30 minutes and they were still where I left them.

I have (somewhere, need to track it down) a nice pen that has a made in W. Germany ink cartridge in it. I was surprised to see it.

I am a huge fountain pen fan, and I own several. I have a nice bottle of ink to refill them too. It’s too bad they don’t travel as well as a cheap gel pen, but the real problem is usually that most paper these days can’t handle the amount and depth of ink they put out.
Also, I have in the past had trouble finding ones with a fine point. It’s easier to find medium.

Fun fact: pens and tools are the only German things I’ve ever owned.

Regarding paper:
Rhodia and Claire Fontaine are the best paper you can buy for fountain pens. Both use vellum, which résiste bleeding and feathering. Also, pretty much anything for sale on jetpens.com, because the Japanese like good paper.

I am old enough to remember my dad having fountain pens. Not because he was eccentric and quirky, but because they were still a current thing.
I was fascinated by all things mechanical and like to take them apart to see how they worked. I was, of course, forbidden from getting anywhere near the pens. I seem to remember doing it anyway. Much stainage ensued.

I usually have a bit of ink on my fingers for at least a week after refilling.

Please tell me this is a gag. I couldn't deal with it if they actually sold pens. Not clicking that link

I am exceedingly picky about pens and my favorite is a 1.0 mm Paper Mate stick pen. About $0.30 apiece.

My favorite pen. And I am very picky.

That makes me want to dig out some of my old pens; unfortunately, I’m not near any of them. Some of my favorite though:
I’m quite fond of the 2 Kyocera ceramic rollers that I have. Not sure why though, as they aren’t really my favorite for writing. Mine are a similar style, but with the bronze and gold coloring.
My Monteverde Olympia (Tiger Eye) is also a nice one;
Still, I mostly use Pilot G-2s anymore; I just really like how the gel roller writes.

I have a nice otherwise unremarkable Audio-Technica microphone stand that says MADE IN WEST GERMANY - I love things with that label.
