Right way vs Wrong way

Counterpoint: transverse V8.
Also, at the end of the day, 90% of the time no one would notice the difference.

In what car was a transverse V8 ever a good idea?

S80.

What about two?

Besides the S80, I believe that Ford used that arrangement on the oval Taurus SHO. And there was some Chevy about a decade ago that did the same; I remember it well because it was the first car I'd seen come from the factory with bigger tires in the front than the rear, something that does make sense on a powerful FWD car.

GM LS4?

The reason that this is true is because the engine on the left would be pushed well further back from where the picture shows it.

Buick and Olds both had a model with one.

One of the things that made me hate some car mechanic simulation game was when they had a RWD car powered by a transverse V6, a layout that would never exist outside of the mind of some programmer that doesn't have a clue how cars work.

Impala SS, Monte Carlo, and a top end Grand Prix - think a LaCrosse too - but that’s all 1 application really, same engine.

I remember those, particularly the Aurora.
Oh, and I forgot the ‘90s Seville and Eldorado.

Fiero!
But LOL at a front transverse engine/RWD car

Just because it’s been done doesn’t mean it’s a good idea.
The V8 W body cars are junk. The 4 liter SHO is every ones least favorite

Of course - but you’ll get people who will look at it and think “well what’s the damn difference”

Truth. You really can’t get a multi-range transfer case into a fwd-based transaxle with out getting real creative.

what’s wrong with transverse AWD cars?

Or if that’s not enough, how about a t ransverse V12 turbodiesel behind the rear seats of a saloon car ?
