Little known fact, this was the inspiration for Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift but the studio execs didn’t think an animated version would do well in the US. They got the closest live action equivalent to Bobby for the lead, but went with a mashup of Bunta/Ryosuke for the Japanese mentor/driver.

Boomhauer was supposed to give Bobby the Mustang while Peggy was supposed to cover the initial training montage and Dale was going to be the laughable but useless comedy sidekick.

This might sound far-fetched, but tell me that this isn’t live action Bobby (as a 20 something)

Oh god, when he did his cameo in F&F7, he looked so OLD. Like, Vin Diesel aged less between the first film and the seventh than he did from TD to 7.
