No untoward dash lights after a local shop traced and replaced some broken vacuum lines.
This is the second evap/intake leak repair in a year. Basically anything made of rubber on a BMW will fail eventually.
So far in the last 13 months of ownership, I am averaging $63/month in maintenance and repair. This includes an OEM thermostat that I bought but have yet to install.
I will also need to replace the oil level sensor in the near future, roughly $50 for the part and a fairly easy DIY, plus rear brakes.

I would literally have to spray paint the fuel gauge so as not to destroy it on a daily basis. Reduce fractions folks.

That might be the most German thing I have ever seen .

As a fellow low mileage E46 owner, I understand your happiness. So far, no lights (besides an intermittent low coolant light when it’s REALLY cold , which is scary enough), fingers crossed.

And more infuriating is that the 0 isn’t shown as the fraction 0/1
. If you’re going to be wrong, be all wrong.

Is this a quirk or a feature?

I genuinely love the car, but it is somewhat needy. Hopefully after a few more maintenance items it will be 100%, then I can touch up some cosmetic items and have a solid car.

I just call it infuriating.

Same. I’ve had mine about a month and already have put a few hundred into it - granted these were existing issues from when I purchased it, due to the P/O. Mostly the costs lie in wheel repairs (lol...)
That said, the P/O also did a crap load of preventative maintenance, so that’s good for me.
